Everyone always told me that wikipedia links were greatly respected by search engines. But they're "nofollow" Can someone explain please?
so they still count a little? Any estimates as to what a nofollow PR 6 link would compare to what PR page with dofollow? As in, nofollow PR6 ~= dofollow PR?
Nofollow means Google doesn't regard it as a backlink for your site. This means that it is completely useless in terms of Google SEO value (as for Yahoo and others, I dunno).
yeah i do agree with Kingofsanda...these links can bring you some traffic and more over the backlinks from a trust source is always welcomed!!
Google still count a link from Nofolllow as a BACKLINK but Google doesn't give any PR score to your site
Still worth while having... not too long ago they didn't used to be 'nofollow'... ahh, those were the days!
Wikipedia links is nofollow so here is no chance to get link back from here I tried some time and got links also but didn't get back link yet.
To everyone who says "nofollow" is not considered a backlink or a.k.a external link to your site then please explain why it shows up in Google Webmaster's Central external link report? Yes, all nofollow links will appear inside of it. The question you need to ask is this: does nofollow only prevent Pagerank or prevent both Pagerank and SEO value.
And the answer to that is? It does prevent pagerank but may help other SEO values, in addition to obvious traffic benefits?
The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content or preventing content to be indexed by search engines.
Yes, Wikipedia link has a NO-FOLLOW one, but since Wikipedia is an authority site, you'll can have traffic from it.
i used wiki external link for traffic and site promotional aspect. it never gave any harm to your site so.. this is quiet good on building traffics.
i don't want to put a link on there that violates their posting rules. what do you guys do to get a wikipedia link that isn't illegal?
