What effect will the emergence of .ME domains have on .ME.UK domains?

Just wondered what effect everyone thinks the emergence of .ME domains will have on .ME.UK domains? Will it raise awareness of them and make them more valuable? Or will it be seen as a better alternative and thus make them less valuable?

    Discuss!

just my personal opinion but the more dots at the end like domain.com.mx or domain.me.uk just devalues the domain. i think the .me extension would make the .me.uk (didn't know it existed) less desirable.

I'm with abercrombie on this one. I prefer the .me postfix.

.me.uk sounds a bit vague, but if you wanted to ID yourself as an organization in the UK, and if all the better top level extensions for your name were taken, it serves a purpose.

    Regards,

Yeah .me is definitely better, no question. I just wondered if the emergence (and publicity) of .me will raise awareness of the branding potential of both .me and .me.uk to the extent that people realise that, with most good .me domains taken, .me.uk is a decent alternative... or perhaps people will just see .me as the better option and therefore think that .me.uk is not worth bothering with...

Although I think .me domains are great and have a very bright future, I found it really frustrating that they were released so long after .me.uk domains. I already own a number of .me.uk domains and have websites setup on some of them - now that .me has been released and all the good ones were taken so quickly, I was only able to register one of the domains I'm already using on the .me.uk version :(

None really. The .me.uk extention use to suck big time & will still suck big time even after the .me extention was realeased.

If you really were wanting to reg one of the extentions out of the 2, definately the .me extention is better, but still, it's a weak extention IMO.

In what sense? The only difference a domain extension makes is when a user is reading or hearing the full website address. If your domain makes sense (e.g. insure.me) then I don't see how anyone can argue that it's weak - it's easy to remember and it makes sense, as the domain extension becomes part of the name, rather than just an extension. So the user only has to remember the website name, not the extension. There's not many stronger domain extensions than .me in my opinion.
