So first up, congratulations to India for finally winning a gold medal, BINDRA Abhinav won gold in the Air Rifle competition. That is a first for India unless I am mistaken. Michael Phelps is up to 3 of a possible 8 gold medals already, and is just dominatin the swimming competitions. Go Phelps! The US is in the lead for over all medal count, but China is leading for Gold wins. These are such great Games.

Till now, it looks like the Asian countries are having a good haul, Russia is a bit of a disappointment, I would expect it to be in the competition heads on with USA and China. It seemed to be lacking behind at the moment. I expect USA to pull ahead with athletics and swimming. No one in the world can beat them in these and there are a lot of medals in these categories.
Yes Russia is big disappointment so far I am wonder to see my country India have 1 gold and they only 2 Gold which got from today but we knows they can win more in Gymnastics and Athletics.

How come swimming has so many events, 50m, 100m, butterfly and all that but football only has one - and you have to play loads just to get one medal? I say make it like swimming - half pitch football, only running backwards football, two man football. Just do it.
