Why can hardly anyone on this forum use English properly?

Out of all the forums I have ever frequently visited, this one has by far the biggest percentage of people who can barely construct a sentence. Is there any reason for his in particular? Other webmaster forums (especially niche specific ones) I go on are not like this, even the non-English webmasters can usually still type perfect English. Not trying to be offensive, just interested to see if there is actually a logical reason.

    I don't think so.

The reason for poor English is because they are not English. Many people, such as Indians speak quite good English, because as far as I know they get taught it from a young age at school.

It's people from Eastern Europe for example, like w3bmaster who speaks poorly.

It is valid either way as far as I know. I was waiting for everyone to start trying to point out grammatical flaws in my post.

Yes obviously this is the case, but why? It doesn't seem to be that way on other forums. This one seems to have a higher concentration of middle eastern webmasters.

"have a higher concentration of middle eastern webmasters" I don't think so, you already jumping to conclusions. Eastern europe who speaks pretty bad english may use wrong times in sentences, or same words many many times (like me, lol) but they don't usually use sir, pliz, erope i.e. don't miss letters and brokes language way too much.

Nobody is perfect that is the real answer =) ... We should be more considerate to some other people who are trying their best (at least). I guess nothing is violated here but as long as the words are "clear" and "understood"

I agree with you. I accept that some people are not english and struggle to speak the language but for most on here they can speak 'proper' english but choose not to.

    No...lol. Funny...:)

Not really. I can show you a number of Indian webmasters who can't write a couple of properly constructed sentences. And before anyone decides to accuse me of racism, let me tell you that I'm from India too. ;)

But then, language is after all a tool for communication. As long as you can convey your thoughts clearly, there is no problem.

Which is why I said "many" and "quite", not "all" and "perfect" :)

Oh God! Please help me. I forgot my English and could not understand what wisdomtool is trying to tell...
Have to go back to school to learn my basics :p

The aim of any language is to communicate with the other person and share your thoughts. If you can do that with minimum error (what is that minimum level? - acceptable level :)), then it is okay. Never be a purist while using the language, because the language too undergoes metamorphosis with the passage of time. But at the same time, you should not slaughter the language and convert the Latin into Greek :D

Frankly not everyone's native language is English, do give and take and forgive. For those who aren't really fluent, try to do a spell check or grammer check before posting. It would help a lot. Do not concentrate on quantity, concentrate on quality and how best to improve your English.

Granted that DP isn't the perfect place for picking up good English, at least practice makes perfect.

This is one thing that's starting to make me post less here at DP. The English and poor humor. After being on DP for a bit, then going to another forum, you see a big difference! Here's an example of what I'm talking about here -

Thread title on DP: Funny jokes!

    lame joke goes here

Replies to the lame joke thread:
