need advice regarding paypal

    Hi all!

I am a verified member of Paypal with a personal account. Today, I received payment for articles I wrote for a fellow DP member but when I attempted to accept said payment, Paypal told me that I need to upgrade to a premium account because I have already exhausted my account's feature of receiving credit card payments which is five times a year free of any charge.

Any advice on how do I resolve this, preferably without having to upgrade my account? It goes without saying that a premium account charges fees every time I receive payments.

I hope to be enlightened on this matter.

    Thanks a lot! :)

If you wanna receive further payments you have to upgrade.
    That's the only solution.

    Just upgrade to premier membership.
If you don't want to upgrade , I fear you may face problems with paypal.
As personal account should not be used for business purpose.
Just upgrade to premier , fees are so small.
Shouldn't bother about the fees if you care about your business.

Your client must be paying using credit card. Decline the payment and ask him to pay using paypal funds. If he don't want or don't have a paypal account, just upgrade your account to Paypal Premiere or Business.

You can't do a business using Paypal personal account. Treat a business like a business.

You do know that you are not allowed to use a personal account to earn income from provision of services or products. You will be required to upgrade to a premier account at least if you want to continue your activity.

You cannot make your customers pay by paypal funds because only a small select number of people actually have existing paypal funds, just sellers from out of the 40 Send/Receive Supported Countries can do so and they must keep existing funds for that. How many people really keep funds.

It is not a question of not wanting to spend Paypal funds but it is more a question of whether they have paypal funds.

You do know that Paypal is not a charity and they have expenses they need to pay to provide the services which they offer and that you are enjoying. You cannot go around charging your customers a profit for your work while depriving Paypal of theirs for you to benefit from their services. If you do not want to pay paypal their dues then do not charge your customers anything.

There is no other option for you buddy.
Otherwise, what you can do is open another paypal account as premier account and cancel this payment and ask the person to send it to new account.

As per PP TOS, you can have 2 accounts:- 1) Personal 2) Premier or Business

So, in future when you are going to get CC payment ask them to send it to your Premier account.
    Hope this helps.

If you do plan to have both a personal and premier account, make sure you do not receive money to your personal account as if you did, it would be a violation of your contractual agreement with Paypal.

Okay, thank you so much for all the feedback! :)

I already have a business account with Paypal. Should I tell people to direct all payment to that account? Even if they are paying with Paypal funds?

Of course, most definitely, you should redirect all payments no matter how they pay to your business account. Your personal account cannot be used to receive money from sales in the first place.

Yes, even if it is for other reasons. Unless it is your family or friends sending you money.

The Personal account purpose is not to receive money but rather it is an account for you to spend through Paypal. Basically, it is the accounts for your customers which makes up the bulk of the paypal clients.

Think of the various paypal account types, personal, premier and business accounts like status of people in a shopping center.

The Business accounts are for the stores which are registered business and main purpose is to sell things.

The premier accounts are those independent weekend pushcart stores which sells from time to time but is not a registered business.

The personal accounts are the customers who visits the shopping center who would spend money in the stores and make the businesses and proprietors money and the main purpose for starting a business.

    Hope that clarifies the situation.

You can always make a new personal account, not from your same computer but from somewhere else in somebody else's name. This way once you get payments, you can send that to your old account.
The only thing is that new account should not be a fake kind of id, it should be based on someone who can provide documentary evidence if ever your account is limited.
    Hope this helps you, Thanks

Well, thank you so much for your very enlightening reply, eddy2099! :)

    I feel better now.

On another note, can I attach the same CC I have attached to my personal account to my premier account so I can have the latter verified?

Or do I have to remove it from my personal account to be able to attach it to my premier account?

Well, as per PAYPAL rules and regulations, one person can have two accounts-personal and premier/business.
So I think it will be possible..... any way, other people would have better opinion than mine, so do consult others also:)

The reason why paypal allows you to have both a personal and business account is for people who wants to separate their business and personal transactions. As such, they would require you to have separate credit card, bank account and email addresses. There is really no point if the separation ends at the paypal ends and it becomes joint in your end.
