I made a 180 dollar day today. But guess fucking what? 100 dollars went to refund so I only made a 80 dollar day. I think clickbank needs to remove its refund policy or do something new. Because people are buying (and enjoying there product), then getting a refund because it is simple and there are no questions asked. I think everyone should submit a support ticket about there horrible refund policy for affiliates
If you think, on the other hand, providing easy refund makes Clickbank a reliable place to buy products. So it has some positive sides too.
Wow that must have been a horrible day... I had a buyer ask where he could find a refund and I told him I didn't know just to be able to keep the extra $33. Try to look for niches that are useful and should not need a refund. That is how I am working towards $100 a day now.
I no im pissed as fuck! Im averaging a 33% refund rate for this product. The only reason Im still promoting it, is because it sells like hot cakes!
What's the big deal? The end result is that you made a profit of $80. Multiply your efforts by ten, and now you're making a cool $800 profit per day. I admit that a 33% refund rate is high, but the only reason it might matter iis if you're spending big bucks promoting by PPC. Are you? Did the PPC costs knock down your $80?
Clickbank's refund policy is definitely a bit too lenient. Just about all other payment processors I know forward the requests to the publisher and give them the opportunity to respond.
i actually find clickbank refund policy quite nice, because 2/3 of the time, people who ask me a refund end up not knowing how to get it. they dont know that its not me, but clickbank that process refunds...and if they do try to access clickbank website, they can't find the contact form. only one out of 4 refunds asked to me get processed succesfully. Most of the time i even contact them and say "im sorry but the refund policy you read on our sales page expired yesterday and we didn't update the site yet." Then they get mad at me, threaten me with some "legal gestapo shit" and i never hear of them ever again. i get a chargeback sometime but its helluva rare. i think i only got one Chargeback in 600 sales. or even better. i just tell them "your refund was processed", then they say "thank you" and never contact me ever again, even if i didn't process their refund. Even though this might sound a little scammish, it has turned out pretty well for me. Moral? Not at all. Legal? yes. I won't lose my sleep over it. more money in my pockets and in my affiliate's. This is a email a received today from one of my happy customers: Did he just call himself stupid?? Made me laugh to know that they only need to go to clickbank.com and fill a form to get refund but that theyre too stupid to research a bit, and prefer to send me flame-your-ass-off emails. Well done "fuck you", thanks for you bucks! Of course im gonna help a customer if he needs support or anything, but when im 100% sure a customer is lost and wants a refund, then i just find my way to say "find your refund yourself" It all depends if your publisher process refunds as soon as he gets asked for it or not. imo thats what makes the difference between crappy products with a 40% refund rate and crappy products with a 6% refund rate.
rofl...we've all done that at some point, and it always works like a charm . But I've never done this for a real problem niche, like medicines or whatever, they're normally good people that end up buying a product from a hyped-up affiliate page without knowing it's just crap. Scamming people like this makes them not want to trust the internet ever again to buy stuff, and they'd tell all their friends how they got scammed too - not something you want if we want more people to start purchasing off the net. To lower refunds, if the refund period is 30 days, post something like "Try/Keep it for 28 days and if you don't like it, you can return it and get 100% of your money back, it's that simple! [/sick]" Because clickbank almost never processes refunds within two days, and this way, you don't invite the wrath of karma
Exilus normally you offer good advice to people and help them out (on these forums), but your attitude on refunds is disgraceful. Just because it's the internet, it doesn't give you the right to blatantly lie to people. If you had a brick and mortar business, and you lied to people like that face to face, I imagine someone would have punched your head in by now.
I understand your point. but online marketing is all about lieing isn't it? Look at 99% of online marketing sites, their landing page is just full of bullshit with nice emotional stories, fake human characters, testimonials and lots of tears with a big "BUY NOW" button in the middle.....4 out of 5 review sites obviously have never bought the products they are "reviewing".... the only difference between them and me, is that i continue lieing even post-sale to avoid myself a 20+% refund rate. I promote a direct download site which is in fact a manual of 2 pages to download torrents with some links to free site. How can you expect such product to have low refunds? surprisingly i only get a complain 20% of the time, but at the moment my refunds are a little lower than 6%. I think in the long-term. i dont think the 14% i dont refund is a 14% loss of money. i dont care about that. i care more bout my affiliates. my affiliates wouldn't stay with me with a 20% refund rate. what would they do? they would go to my competitor which does the exact same thing as me. the outcome to customers would be the same and both me and my affiliates would lose money. (i convert better than my competitor and give out bonuses to my affs.) Im not proud of that, believe me, but in my opinion is the best thing to do for me, and my affiliates. 80% of my customers are happy (or just not complaining), 6% get their refund anyway, so that 14% is a big minority.... Its either a win-win-lose or a lose-lose-lose Do you understand my point? I dont want to turn this thread in a massive flame war about my online marketing values or such. We all know this business is about lieing. Just some of you might think lieing is acceptable until a certain degree, past that you're a criminal. i analysed this situation on a logic angle and this is what i decided was best for everyone in the long run. This is what I've been thinking all along. Thanks for coming out and saying it. I have been very quick to respond to refund requests so far and ... while I know that's the "right" thing to do, I also think it's a bit too easy and that some customers take advantage of it. I must admit I'm thinking about at least making it a bit harder to contact me for a refund. Customers can always go to CB and get a refund directly. In the "real world" companies make it a major pain in the ass to get a refund or to get the "cash back" or whatever it is. It's not that you can't get them, they just make it a pain in the ass to do it. I think some of the publishers (like me) at CB are making it too easy and that's the reason why some products have high refund rates while others have low. I really believe that most of the difference in refund rates is not quality of the product but exactly what you are saying - some publishers being very quick to issue and others not.
I do understand your point (especially about the landing/sales pages) - I'm probably just as guilty as the next guy. But when it comes to refunds, my view is different. (especially if it's promoted on a sales page that you can get your money back if you're not happy with product etc etc) -- And with your anime torrent site, I do realise you don't promote it. I dont really have a problem with making it difficult to get a refund, (but as I said before) just blatantly lying to people, was what I had a problem with. Anyways like I said I do understand your point, I know it's not a black and white issue.
I have a proposition for clickbanks's refund policy. They should ask customers to give clickbank access to their PC, so the downloaded file could be deleted. I mean you ask for a refund? You don't get to keep the file... I know it's complicated and all... but I am sure many people wouldn't want a refund after being asked full access to their pc
$80/day isn't back at all. You should consider yourself lucky to earn that much. The refund thingy is something that all affiliate marketers have to deal with.
