No question about it. Unfortunately, that problem of single black parents has a long history. It started in the beginning when families were separated when they were sold.. was repaired briefly, but destroyed soon after through racism in law enforcement and economic discrimination...again made a comeback after the civil rights movement, and then destroyed again by economics, crime and and an influx of drugs in poor communities.

It is a constant struggle that, not just black people deal with, but economically challenged (poor ) people all over the country.
Lack of education leads to poor economics , poor relationship and family skills.
It is a repeating cycle that can only be stopped with education.

Many people that come from nothing, have no clue how to be something unless they are shown, or have the fortune to figure it out for themselves.

I rarely label people if I can help it, but we all do it. When you look at the challenges of families in America, the issues are the same. Race is the last thing that matters.
Those who make excuses and blame are universal across that racial spectrum.
If it's not a black man blaming his problems on "whitey keeping him down ", it's the white man claiming he can't get a fair shot because of affirmative action.

Both of those excuses are tired and old, and really do not apply unless your mind is still stuck in the 70's.

People who want something out of life will go out and get it, or at least find out how to achieve...those who sit back and make excuses are just losers, and they come in all colors.

Thanks for the insightful post! That is a message that needs to be part of a national public service ad. Put it on the back of milk cartons!

    Good job!

The first statement, in bold, contradicts the second.

    Yeah it almost does.

In other words I did not look at them as what their race was, it did not matter to me one bit if they were white, black, gold or purple.

Of course by any logic I would know what race they are.
