In theory Google should not be counting signature links as valuable because they are not natural, they can be gained by anyone and do not prove one website is better than another. That said I don't think Google is smart enough to differentiate all signature links from non signature links and so you'll probably still get some value out of them. This would be especially true for less competitive search landscapes where the best anyone has is links from directories and signatures. I have seen first hand, signature links making a differance to rankings in less competitive niches. How effective they are in competitive niches I'm not sure. One last tip: By far the one factor that I've seen make a big differance is links that contain the targeted keywords in anchor text. Try your very best to include targeted keywords in your link text.
Yes surely The signature Link will be helpful to you as getting more traffic and backlinks. TIP : include most important keyword in your signature link so you can get high rank for that keyword and more backlinks also.
They aren't worthless.. They are LINKS...and dp signature links does get picked up by google. Use the anchor text wisely..and it will help you with ur ranking on a small niche.
Signature link counts and it can be very powerful especially if the thread keep active for several days and gain PR. thats why some spammers just post once to an old thread every day in DP
No there is no reference from google anywhere, the theory is only my personal opinion based on what I have read and tested.
While signature links do add a little value to the web page, it is important nonetheless. It is all these small efforts that results in big gains at a later date. Do they may not get you enough link juice, they may be able to channelize visitors to your website and get your web page crawled regularly. Many of these websites add a 'no follow' clause to stop distributing the PR value, but as stated above can help in getting qualified visitors. Getting links from thematic websites is though the best option.
