hey friends I have been using adsense for some time for my site www.rajasthantour4u.com - and have not seen even a small cash flowing my way. last week i was recommended by one of my friend to join commission junction. after enrollment in various affiliate programs, i noticed that there the click ration proved to be even lower. i am really confused about the ads, may be my google and commission junction ad placements were not correct, please suggest me what is the best route to follow, as i am newbie in the web thing..
It all depends on your traffic. If your bringing very little traffic to your site your not going to see much in response in terms of income.
Get a lot of traffic. I believe your site is still new, it has a low Alexa ranking. Get a unique content. Yours, you just copy from other sites. Search engines love unique content.
Its a pretty new site created on 31st July, 2008 and only 18 pages are indexed in google. What you need is traffic.
after reading all of your replies, one thing i figured out that adsense has a lot of fan following. even i knew adsense as the only publishing network, but now i am learning that there seems to many others like cj, adbrite etc. what i still not able to figure out is how to place the ads to earn the max. regarding CJ, I got really lured when i saw the brands present there, but i am not sure how can people can really lead someone into buying a stuff through displaying ads on their sites. please suggest some good articles n techniques regarding ads placements..
I use both - Adsense gives me 5 times more income that CJ. I have a high traffic site. I find they both complement each other well though.
1) You're probably not getting a lot of traffic. Try Entrecard.com for a get start. 2) Your ad placement could improve. Use a 336x280 adblock above your content. May look messy, but who cares...
AdSense and CJ are both good but different. If you provide a service yourself, AdSense may end up posting ads for competitive businesses, while with CJ you pick exactly whose ads appear.
For most of the webmasters, adsense is the first and natural choice and only when there is a problem with adsesne, they go in search of some other alternatives...
I suggest Adsense. Keep adding good content. CJ might not work all that well. But why don't you give it a weeks trial and keep us posted?
They both have their own place under the sun. Payouts will be better if you use CJ on a very focused Niche. Only advantage of adsense is that it will chose what ad to display on a specific page. It is done algorithmically and can be great if you have thousands of pages you want to rotate ads which still relevant. If you have a focused niche and if you can find CJ programs that are really really targetted towards your visitors then CJ will work better. But if you use CJ, you need to write content that steers towards some pre-selling since you want your visitors to buy or take some action like submitting a zip code whereas adsense all you need is a click. Keep in mind,, many of the adsense ads are from CJ affiliate themselves. That means those CJ affiliates ate converting a sale from your click. That mean CJ has to be better. CJ can earn you 4-5 times but it needs lots of hardwork and testing. Adsense is for lazy publishers or niche where people don't buy much stuff.. But if it is a buying niche, CJ is way better.. Travel is good.. But for your site you need to find CJ affilates programs that provides travel service to Rajasthan. But of course you need to first think about getting together a better website, with better content and good link building campaign etc... You site, currently, will not make you any..
they are totally 2 different programs. if you have a good niche site and have targeted visitors and can find a good affiliate program for it, then you willl make way more money with CJ or other affiliate programs. you just need to analyze your visitor's browsing pattern. just find out why your visitor comes to your site. if it to read and find resourcefull information, then use adsense. if it is to find a specific product or product related information, then affiliate program might be a better choice
first of all thanks a lot about your comments on adsense vs cj, our travel site on rajasthan doesn't provide unique content but there are some features like videos n pics we have taken from flickr n youtube .. also we are planning to add in exclusive info as lakes, fortes, palaces, wildlife, government policies, famous people and more things about rajasthan in 2-3 days.. what i am confused is as mentioned in some of the comments above, that as my site is not having a niche i should use adsense, but what i figure out is google themselves shows relevant and dynamic ads and regarding CJ they have a list of brands which are not divided in geographic regions. they have static ads which are shown all around the globe. So thus that mean if you have a site targeted on a particular domain and for a particular geography then only CJ can work and elsewhere only Google Ads will work?
i have been looking to provide a combination of both adsense n cj and will try to place the ads in a more subtle way in my next release of site.. which is in a day or 2.. please suggest some sites which use these 2 publishing networks as complementary to each other!! thanks
