Few minutes ago, i received a PM from a new member tinhlagi(http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=195695)

He sent me this messege in PM

"hello, is this your thread ?
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/.................... etc
    Thanks"

**I have edited the link to prevent you from visiting the site.**

By mistake, i clicked on the link and it took me an unknown site though the link URL belongs to Digital POINT. I soon realized that it is a phising technique and changed my password immediately.

Please be advised that it is a new type of phising attack.Don't visit any such links if you receive a PM from this member or any unknown new member and if you do so, please change your password immediately.

Also,, forward the PM to MODS, as i did!!!

I just wanted to give a warning and so created this thread.

    Thanks

Phishing, if they're using a forums.digitalpoint.com anchor with a different URL.

    1. It's called link cloaking.
    2. This is a stupid thread. The possibility of a person who'd fall for this reading this thread is infinitely small.

I tend to disagree, obviously the thread starter, a fairly established member fell for it and quite easily an unknowing newcomer to DP, not aware of the chronic pm spams here could fall for it. ;)

    Yes, you are correct!
I am not very knowledgable about all these hacking tricks and so i just thought it to be a phising attack.

Anyways, if you guys think that it is a stupid thread, i am requesting a MOD to close it.

    Thanks :)

I got this a couple of days ago too... I clicked it (oops).
The link doesn't lead anywhere malicious. It's just a cheap spamming attempt.
