After receiving your valuable feedback I just got a new domain name related to my activity rather than my former generic domain, installed WordPress and I'm in the process to add content including samples of my previous work, from which I will post later a few excerpts at you consideration and criticism. While choosing content a friend o mine offered me a software that makes possible give away your work as PLR articles that anyone can put up online or publish elsewhere. There's a catch however, articles are processed as an executable file that people can read only once, further try will suggest buy the article and it links to your own sales page, payment gateway or whatever. After paid, the article is unlocked and functions such as copy, paste, save and print are available facilitating the process to put that content in the adequate format that a client may require. However these articles are distributed as EXE files and my concern is, how good could this marketing method be? Many people are scared about viruses, trojans and hoaxes everywhere and I think that sounding like a great method to my ears, it may fail in the distribution and acceptation. The application that generates the articles is indeed virus-free and, according to my friend, developed by a reputable software firm. Or is there a way or seal to certificate a virus-free file so people can feel confidence to download it?
Well, I'm a Mac guy, so I couldn't see EXE files. But this sounds like a whole lot of work for no reason at all. Why not just give buyers a preview of what they are paying? And BTW, if I can see the article once, I can copy it if I really wanted to. But I don't know. This forum is full of people who spend 1,000 hours making stuff all complicated just to earn pennies until they quit.
Good points and, now that you mention it, this will also put Linux users off a presunted target market :O After reading this a red light was turned on my brain.... voice recording, screen printing... who knows how many other ways A preview.... hmmm... I believe you mean by this implementing a script similar to that of some medical and media websites at which it's necessary pay a subscription to continue reading. WOW, how many things I could elaborate in not time, as always, thanks for your feedback and guidance
Sending articles as .exe would always leave the door open to malicious things in that same .exe. Not worth it for the sake of writers everywhere.
Haha. Sure. Always remember K.I.S.S [Keep it simple sweetheart ] P.S Or stupid, if that's what you prefer.
K.I.S.S. is also a notes taking software aimed to keep it simple and despite nos is looking a bit outdated due to its interface, it really helps to keep your articles skeches organized into categories. I found it useful for some brainstorming when writing. @phang, certainly if I wouldn't put viruses into an executable, someone else could do it and ruin my reputation, so I will definitely discard the idea... besides I don't like to earn pennies for tons of work :O
exe does scare people. I have an exe and a pdf so they can choose. But I'll probably do away with the exe.
Thanks Webgal for your advice and sticking to your words, is there any good application to create PDF files? Besides article preview for selling, I would like to eventually distribute another written items, that's why I thought in EXE as viable solution. I know Acrobat can do the job but I'm not very good learning how to deal with complicate programs, and Open Office seems bit hard for me due to the number of features. I know there are drivers that allow Microsoft Word PDF conversion, but I would like to have an easy-to-understand standalone application. Any advice on this suject will be highly appreciated
