    Hello guys!
I have been blogging for almost a year and my blog is getting quite a traffic from google. I am using blogger. Now I want to transfer my blog to word press and use a good domain. I am currently using .blogspot.com from blogger.
I just want to know how is this going to affect my current ranking and whats the better way to do it.

    Thanks

if all you backlinks are pointing to your current site it will hurt your traffic, but on the plus side bloggers love wordpress

You'll definitely build traffic faster with wordpress and find it a more robust business builder. Depending on how many blogger sites you have, you may want to keep them active and link to your wordpress blogs that serve similar niches.

I'm experiencing the same issue in regard to transitioning blogger sites to wordpress. However I only had 5 of them. Even though I had basically allowed them to become dormant they have respectable ranking and a few backlinks that make it worthwhile to keep them active with bi-weekly posts.

    Hope this helps.

    Ciao,

why don't you use 301 redirects to redirect the old posts to the new wordpress urls?

if you can find a way to keep all the page urls on your site exactly the same then you should have no problems at all.

heads-up to you... Sticking to blogger forever would put all of your efforts to nothing... Blogger is only good for practicing but if you are aiming high, need to transfer to wordpress.. You cannot sell a blog in blogger in a competitive price even if it has millions of traffic...

    Now transfer to wordpress..

loosing traffics when changing your domain is a normal scenario after a few weeks and some optimization to your new site will retain back your traffics especially your planning to use wordpress its very search engine friendly.

This has worked fine for me in several instances. Not 100% perfect, but nothing more required than a little housekeeping after the import.

If you want to redirect to word press then use 301 redirect method. But for getting traffic as well as page rank, you will have to be patience.

Make sure to keep all links intact and don't change the content.
