Hello, I never really taped into the adult niche, but I plan to do so now. I am wondering if there are any restrictions of adult keywords when it comes to advertising via adwords. An example is with gambling, Google disallows all gambling keyword bids. If I bid on keywords such as "porn", will my AD show and will I remain ban free? Thanks.
You can have the word "porn" in your campaign, but you will have to make sure that your landing page will be according to Google's guidelines.
Course I did do a test searches on such keywords, just struck me odd that so little competition on such high searched keywords.
Google requires that you go through a manual review and approval process, which can take months from what I hear. They are very selective on who gets to market for porn and porn related sites as well. As you can see on google there are usually less than 8 advertisers for the adult industry keywords
I spoke with an Adword REP this morning. It seems that the only thing they will review is your landing page along with your AD. Usual review process takes 24 hours. And all types of adult content are allowed as long as it does not fall into the illegal category.
Interesting... Let me know how long it really takes. I am interested in know because I have had problems with this in the past. Took one guy almost 2 months to get approved...
Snap! I just answered most of this in another thread - Does Google AdWords accept Adult PPC Ads? (sorry, can't post links yet) They take way less to approve ads nowadays. But you want to know the reason why a keyword like 'porn' has so little competition? It has to do with the basics of AdWords... ROI. Notice that a lot of ads that come up with adult term are downloads for mobiles, dating, penis enlargement, <enter subject of your last spam email here>, etc. Using AdWords for Porn doesn't generate good ROI. I don't know why. But I've tested it. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that users that are searching for porn wan to watch porn and get instant gratification - rather then sign up to things... I don't know what's the exact searcher mentality when people search for porn, but I can guarantee you they won't be wanting to read a long sales page.
