I think most webmasters probably use Google or something other than Yahoo and MSN / Live as their search engine of choice. I've always seemed to be able to rank sites on MSN pretty quickly, so I'd like to build a couple sites that would be of interest to their "typical" user so that I get more than a couple drops of traffic. Any thoughts for the profile of the standard MSN / Live search engine user?
many CANADIANS use www.msn.ca as their homepage. one of canada's largest ISPs (www.symaptico.ca) uses MSN SEARCH, hence the re-direct for www.msn.ca i use msn search, as a webmaster + "searcher."
I think google is the first choice for many internet users but sometimes people may be interested in viewing some different information from time to time so they may turn to yahoo or msn.
Not even trying to be funny here, not empirical evidence, but my personal experience tells me old people use MSN search.
msn and yahoo search engines are tipycal used by peoples who have setup theyr start page pointed there I think , so .. peoples who really dont care when they setup some softwares ( like yahoo messenger / msn messenger ... ) , also peoples who simply dont like hows google skin looks ( I know peoples who simply dont like it and usualy dont use it ) ... fair enought until there but honestly I dont think theyr search engine is so used , organic trafic from there is too low to be considered important .
I think if your default page is MSN, you will certainly search from there. I use MSN home page for my laptop (after my friend "tampered" with it), and it is not that bad. After a while, you get used to it and start searching from there.
as silly as this sounds, I believe this is true. older people whos homepage is msn just search there because they dont know much about technology. --sean
i use them but more of a backup after i have checked google, as they will often produce different sites then google
mostly ppl used google but its dos't mean no one use MSN live many ppl used for differents search by using this .
I agree with aforesaid that some "peoples" dont like "hows" some or another skin looks but when we talks about the MSN "peoples", here's what I have found: MSN is very popular amongst Hispanic people and I agree with what DomainLoot says - MSN is big in Canada (Blame Canada, blame Canada...) I would say, young Hispanics and elderly North Americans - this is what you are looking at. Majority of MSN people are childless and on a lower income level... The profile of Live.com looks quite similar. So, with MSN.com + Live.com you are looking at a total audience of 185 million people in US alone. So, I hope it helps. And if you can find the right product or the right service, you are looking at some neat profit from MSN. I like your way of thinking.
I guess only those who search less than average people will use msn . they seldom get what they are looking for with msn.
i have use many time live but after google , n it iz rite many ppl's number 3 choice iz live after google n yahoo
