Hey I was just needing some general information I can't seem to find anywhere else. I have a website trying to rank for the keyword "Country Music" and we rank on the first page for "country music news" but don't rank anywhere for country music. I was wondering what I need to do to even get it ranking anywhere at all for that keyword in google.
If you are talking about nashville4u.com, I see you ranking at 250 for country music. To improve your ranks, you need to get plenty of backlinks to your site. The more sites that link to your site, with "country music" as the anchor text, the better. High quality backlinks is the best and will move you up the serps much faster. There are numerous methods you can use to build links. You can get free links at web/article directories, social bookmarks, forum signatures, classified ad sites, blog commenting, etc. Hope this info helps...
Yes this does help me. I was using ShoeMoneys SERP tool and it said it was not showing but it must only search the first few websites or the ranking has recently changed.
nice little site. I notice that you are running it from a word press blog and that's is a great idea. Getting it to rank for country music will be very very difficult. There are currently 498,000,000 search results returned when you type this search in and that is very very tough competition. Unless you have a few thousand pounds to throw at it and a full time blogger i think it will be extremely difficult. However go to this keyword suggest tool http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/index.php I typed in Country Music and it gave a long list of "Long Tail" keywords that are similar and their approximate search volumes on all the majot search engines. Long tail is simply a longer keword in a competitive niche. I'd start here and target some of the keywords on that list. Go through all of them and cut and paste them into Google until you come acorss some search results that have less than 3,000,000 results, but still have a good search volume. Then build you site around these keywords. For example the keyword "academy of country music awards" returns 2,500,000 results but has 108 searches a day on Google, which is still pretty good. Create some content on your site around this subject, perhaps a blog post about the subject. Then you need to build back links, on do follow forums and do follow blogs like this site here. I think you'll need a few thousand before you start to make an impact, unless you get some links from pages with a high PR that are also linked to the country music niche. Personally I think you've choosen a very competitive niche. Hope this helps, if it does could you consider adding to my reputation, if it's useless then add some negative value to my reputation
