Did I mess up?!

I re-built a site for the company I work for a few months ago now www.medp.net

I tried my best to optimize my site for the keywords Medical Billing Service and California Billing Service. I wasn't doing too bad was ranked like 60 on medical billing service and higher with california. Now I'm not even found on google.

I recently created a bunch of longtail keyword websites that all have very similar content and uploaded them to my sitemap without directly linking them to my website. Some examples include...

    http://www.medp.net/specialty/billing_service_for_cardiologist.html
    http://www.medp.net/city_and_specia...s_medical_billing_service_for_cardiology.html
    http://www.medp.net/city_and_specia...a_medical_billing_service_for_cardiology.html

In total the sitemap includes about 500 websites. Did this hurt my rank? Or am I missing some important information on website optimization?

having that many pages shouldn't hurt your rank. My guess is that your keywords just weren't optimized. You want to make sure that you have some of your top keywords in your title tags, and make sure your keywords are between 2%-5% used on the page. Make sure you aren't keyword stuffing as well.

What do you mean by keyword stuffing?

Is anything over 5% too much?

The primary keywords you have chosen must not be over 5% each of the text on your site ( excluding your code with code2text ratio )

I ran my site through SEO Elite it gave me the following statistics...

    Keyword 1:
    Density - 15.7%
    Prominence - 67.4%
    Link Density - 0%
    Link Prominence - 0%
    H1 - 66.7%
    H2 - 33.3%
    Meta Keywords - 0%

    Keyword 2:
    Density - 12.4%
    Prominence - 75.3%
    Link Density - 0%
    Link Prominence - 0%
    H1 - 33.3%
    H2 - 66.7%
    Meta Keywords - 0%

Density: I realize that my keyword density is way too high and I should lower it to about 7%.

I'm not all that sure about the other statistics though... What are healthy percentages for each?

Also are there any statistics that I'm outright missing? Are there better programs available to see the statistics of my website instead of SEO elite?

Finally... And this is the big one... I can see that my site definately needs some work done to it in regards to SEO... Should I just worry about the homepage or should I comb through each of my pages and make sure they each meet the same standards??

I added these sites to my sitemap less than a month ago. I would suspect it'll be another month or so before they actually get indexed.

it shouldn't take that long to get indexed!

I typically find anything that I upload is indexed anywhere from 1hr to 1 week period of time.

Whats the PR of your site? The higher it is the more quickly it's pages get indexed. I am still a lowly PR 0 so I have to wait the 6 weeks. lol

I have sites ranging from 2 to 4. But, when those sites began, it didn't take long at all for the sites to be indexed.

I do understand what you mean by higher PR sites getting new content indexed quicker, but that probably has more to do with the age of the site and the number of backlinks that google follows to the site than anything else.

Proper sitemap building and coding of your pages will help drastically.

I always use A1 Sitemap Generator because it pings the search engines, then I use Socialmarker on all major pages with appropriate tags. That seems to get me indexed in the first week.

It shouldn't matter, but if you put a link from your home page or even leave a comment on a blog or forum with a link in your sig it should be indexed very quick

    LSI = latent semantic indexing

Search engines today look for synonyms of your keywords in your page copy, use a thesaurus tool and use some of the suggestions that fit with your theme.

holiday > vacation, bank holiday, feast, celebration, local holiday ...
picturesque > charming, pleasing, pretty, scenic ...

    just some examples.

There is quite a bit of controversy discussion about it but I used this technique already years before the theme came up on the net using beta software that researched about AI (artificial intelligence) - it worked wonders (for rankings) - that much that I observed all the well working tools disappear by time. (I suspect that Google buys them to avoid manipulation IMPOSSIBLE 'til now to recognize and handle)
