I wonder if it is time to retire? After 4 years of watching the ups and downs of AdSense I am losing interest I guess. At my peak I was bringing in about 1K a month early 2007, and then watched it slip back to $600 a month. I recovered slightly earlier this year but now back to about $700 a month. It just seems the more clicks you get the less they are worth. I tried so many affiliate programs it would make your head spin, and the results were always very poor. I know some would say how can you complain at $700 a month, but when it takes you 20 hours a week to maintain $700 you wonder is it worth it? So what do you do to keep motivated?
Adsense is difficult but if everybody was making tons of money from it, i doubt very much the share coming to each of us would be substantial. All i can say is make a website which provide quality content and work on building links to it, over time you'll become an authority in your niche. Anyway, good luck to you.
20 hours a week to earn $700 is reasonable to me. Why stopping now ? I guess income will gradually increase from here on now
Dear filipina' ! 3 hours a day giving you $ 700 a month , i think is not a bad ratio. Where the chances are that it will increase with time. Regards Tehmina
Good luck to you in everything that you set out to accomplish. Maybe the clicks or ads you were generating income from became "smart-priced" or cheapened.
sometime you on the peak and sometime you come down.. just take it as a simple problem.. my adsense earning also fluctuating...not always increase..
20 hours a week is a lot time for 700.00 dollars a month in my opinion. There are many other ways to make a lot more money online in that amount of time.
What keeps me motivated is the potential of increasing earnings. The combination of Adsense and Kontera has been averaging $2,000 - $4,000 per month for at least the last year - add that to my other sources of monetization and it's a decent monthly income. I've had big ups and downs, but because of the diversified income sources they balance each other out.. has your traffic been on the upturn? if so, keep at it - if not, work on that traffic! .. but, you might want to cut back a few hours per week so you dont get burned-out (more) ..
I got tired of it too. Did only minimal maintenance on sites for a few months, sold off a few...now I'm feeling like I want to get back in with a sharper focus and more energy. I think a layoff can help.
its pretty good i must say.. but as i have same problem 2 yrs back i even reached $10,000 per month but after i reached that target i lost interest as i was satisfied.. with the money and finally mine earning started to decline and finally to $4000-$5000 and finally got banned by adsense.. I must say don't loose hope you can do it again... i have started again and trying to get my previous stat back but its already 1 year still hanging on $3000+ but i never lose hope... keep going...
I retired after two years observing results were far from my expectations, but now I'm reconsidering put Adsense in a few domains sincd it will always better earn a little money that keep those domains withoug monetizing.
You might just need a break. Just don’t turn on the PC for as long as possible and take a week or two off. Put the hole internet out of your mind. See how long you last before that beautiful feeling comes back on making easy money.
i never really worry too much about my adsense earnings. it is what it is and it is not my main source of revenue but a suplemantal income from lose sites where affiliate programs dont fit in much. i diversify my revenue source and thats what keeps me going
i was getting around $700 a month from only a couple sites at the turn of the century and saw a sharp decline to $200 then $50 back in the old Web 1.0 days with ValueClick. threw in the towel around 2003 and pursued other hobbies. came back just recently. this adsense thing looks like a challenge i'd like to take on but i can understand the amount of hours is not relative to the pay you'd get if you were hired to do this at a company. but if you can do this for a living, at least you make your own hours.
yes, it is only worth it if it looks like your work will pay off and it will go up soon, if the 700 stays or goes down it ,ight be better to flip burgers at Mcdonalds and make more money
