herd that a few weeks ago, I reckon it will make it a bit harder now, because people can make really good flash websites and because a lot of people have broadbrand, they will be more interactive and more better than normal websites

Flash is too... well flashy. Bad webmasters who like to push their bandwidth will continue to use Flash and good webmasters will continue to not.

Hate to tell you, but some great sites have been made in flash.

    http://ecodazoo.com/ for an example.

Plus with a good flash designer they can minimize the size of a site quite considerably.

Bandwidth isn't much of a problem these days anyway.

For the average site, I would never use flash. But for some sites it's so much better. It gives the designer so much more that they can do, being so much more creative. For example portfolio sites, they are almost always better for designers to make in flash (or get made in flash if they don't know how).

Hell even one of the best web design companies on earth uses it.

Also flash gives the user interactivity that cannot be achieved using anything else on the web (although AJAX applications are getting there, and i'd recomend them much more).

Agree. A good friend of mine works only in flash and she rocks. But wherever her clients needs to rank higher, well, there's no way. But just looking at her works, beautiful, frankly.

Yeah, flash designs can be amazing if you use them sparingly. Has anyone heard how they're indexing / spidering the Flash though? Is it only based on the meta words or are they able to somehow "decipher" what the flash media is displaying and index based on that ? (does that question even make sense? :p)

You just proved my point. First you send me to a site that takes 30 seconds to load and another 30 seconds to understand. People don't like waiting for like 3 seconds total to get the information they need.

Saying that it loads fast considering the content is absurd. Load time speeds shouldn't be relative. It either loads fast or it doesn't. If it doesn't then it's a waste.

Well, that site has won awards for how awesome it is, so y'know .

Saying people will only wait 3 seconds is absurd. A lot of people will wait for a flash site to load, needless of how long it takes (unless it's obviously slow, taking minutes).
Plus internet speeds are increasing at a rapid rate, so most of the time it won't even matter for anyone who owns a flash site if it takes 5 minutes on 56k or whatever crappy internet people have, they are aiming it at an audience who will have a decent connection.

this was long time delayed, there were many decompilers all over the net since 2003 and only 2 years ago did Google and Yahoo started to be serious and looking into flash contents
