I think this is a service offered by textlinkbrokers.com The idea is that a publisher will host a page that is highly optimised for your keyword on their domain and place a link to your website within the page. The hope is that the domain's authority will lend some PR juice to the hosted marketing page and thus pass value through your highly targeted link. The advantage is that the publisher can keep the page relatively hidden from their main website and not have to alter their main pages in any way. How well it works for the link buyer I'm not sure, I personally haven't used this kind of service before. If you do end up using it, feedback would be much appreciated.
I can not see the value in a highly optimised host page. I take T_Media's idea of not needing to change the content and layout of a web page to a certain degree. However, I would be concerned that you are paying an agency to optimise their own page and not your website. When an relationship stops, your holding page could provide a competitor with a similar boost? Any thoughts?
Its not that you are paying for someone to optimise their own page. You are paying for the end product which is a link to your site from a page related to your industry. Yeah, if you stop paying them your link goes down and if the broker wants to they can put up a link to a competitor.
I understand the concept of HMP however, rather than pay an SEO company to promote an independent page budgets may be better spent on a longer term strategy enhancing your own site and independent position in SERP's I'm guessing that if a supplier of HMP has a paying client they will provide more resource into a hosted page and therefore provide a stronger product if/when you end a relationship?
