I'm currently ranking #2 for "my keywords" and #3 for my keywords.. I try to be #1, of course. I'm thinking about creating a lens on Squidoo to add a good backlink to my site. But I've heard Squidoo lens tend to rank well in SERP.. Isn't it dangerous for my #2 position to create an optimized lens? I wouldn't want my lens to take the first or second position in the SERP! Any thoughs?
Depends on the keyword of course, but yeah, Squidoo lenses tend to rank pretty well. However, if your site is #2 with many incoming links, it's unlikely a Squidoo lens will beat your page if you do not generate extra links to it. They get internal links obviously... Just make the page so it's obvious it's linking to your site ... If all else fails, there is an option to delete a lens, so in case it gets top position ;-)
Dude if you do not secure the squidoo lens for your keywords I will register them and compete (j/k) if you do not register with those keywords some one will do then... hope you got the marketing strategy there
If you are already in SERP for particular keyword then I think you dont need to compete with your own web page. Squidoo is to drive traffic to your website. So you can use squidoo page when you loss ur ranking or try some other keyword where your website is not getting rank.
I'm the kind of person who believe nofollow links DO pass relevance and DO help in SERP. I'm not really building this lens for traffic, but only for the link. By the way, the lens is done and online.. I'll tell you if it gives me too much competition in the SERP!
