I've been hearing rumors that Google made some kind of change internally last week that is casing certain software to not function correctly. At my company we use a program called Web Position to track keyword rankings, and all of a sudden last week all of the search queries fail for Google. Has anyone else run into any problems like this recently?
Google has always had a problem with those types of software. Per Google: Google's Terms of Service do not allow the sending of automated queries of any sort to our system without express permission in advance from Google. Sending automated queries absorbs resources and includes using any software (such as WebPosition Goldâ„¢) to send automated queries to Google to determine how a website or webpage ranks in Google search results for various queries.
"Google has always had a problem with those types of software." You are totally right, but good software developers always find a way through
I have noticed something, my pages are taking a day or so to get indexed on some of my sites when it used to be mins or hours for the past couple of days. Glad I read this, might need to cool off of my keyword tracking and sitemap submissions just a bit and see what happens.
SEO Elite stopped working as soon as the PR update happened, same day. I contacted support they sent me an upgrade and it started working again couple days ago.
I have seen many other threads where people are talking about the same kind of thing. I guess google has done some changes in order to stop automated queries.
google will always be making changes to provide best possible search results i guess that is what they stand for in the first place people keep on using black hat stuff so google needs to come up with better solutions
Google has been a bit too aggressive as it sometimes flags me as a bot and I get redirected to some website on http://sorry.google.com. I then have to wait about 30 seconds before I can do any more searches.
How can you imagine this? It is strange to see how clever people are saying stupid things. How can google ban any particular software? There were some algo changes (that are implementes all the time), so tools that quered google stopped to work. But after updates everything became as usual. No reason to panic. Of course if only you have nothing to do or to speak about except imaginary bans and blocks
that's really interesting on a software side, it explains a few things on my site, thanks for sharing
