My corporate client has created a series of e-books that will be sold to his corporate customers. He would like his customers to pay online and get instant download. He is worried that PayPal may look cheesy and unprofessional in this situation. What are the best alternatives?
Take a look at EC Suite as a possible Paypal alternative. I can send you some example clients in a PM if you'd like to check out our payment forms. We have a few join form skins which are customizable, you can change color schemes and add your own banners for example. We can also help you with user management, sending customers to a secure download page for the e-book after the purchase has been made. If your client is concerned about corporate customers having to leave the site at all your best bet might be a merchant account + gateway though. It would require a bit more work on development and possible be more expensive depending on volume but everything would be in your control.
No problem! So far it looks like we'll be a good fit, I look forward to working with you and your client.
Plimus.com or 2Checkout.com should do the trick. Plimus is made for online delivery and was conceived for delivery of licenses or downloads for software so it would work with your e-book too. They accept credit cards, paypal, checks, purchase order and bank account funds transfers. Paypal itself is not made for corporate sales. I am happy with Plimus.com and I do have a number of corporate and governmental customers who have no problems with Plimus.com . In fact, Plimus accommodate them quite nicely.
Plimus is good and free to join..... but there are certian problems... if you get few chargeback or reversal, then your account will be close... and you will never be able to use Plimus again on that same name... but clickbank is far more better then Plimus.... except clickbank have a join fees of $49.99 USD.. but over all click bank is the best one for this purpose.... remember free stuff always have a dark side.... and because clickbank have a join fees so you will never have to fear of getting your account close.... also there is a another service.... its called www.Regnow.com and the join fees is very less then clickbank.com. i think regnow.com join fees is only $19.00 USD and its only one time fees. and you can accept all kind of payments even from paypal..... same as Plimus or ClickBank.com and regnow.com will not close your account....
They would routinely take Paypal out if the Paypal gateway is under maintenance or when there is issues. But IMHO, I find Paypal to be an unnecessary irritation. The reason I said that is because anyone who has a Paypal account should have a credit card and/or a bank account and Plimus supports all major credit cards and international bank accounts. Those who do not have credit cards but have paypal accounts are probably those who are unverified, verified with fake info such as using VCCs and the like, generally people who cause more trouble than good. Although I do encounter chargebacks from time to time but I feel that the majority of the problematic customers are weed out of the system and thus you would not really face that much of such issues.
But I guess you can't sell digital products priced at more than $50 with clickbank! Only after you have a reputated account with them (means less refunds chargebacks) is the limit lifted to $197
