What will the world be like if microsoft never existed?

We would be using Mac now . what else?

I think that IBM would have become the leading operating system manufacturer. I would also envision a smaller open source community as many open source projects are created as alternative to Microsoft products.

Personally, I don't think it would be a beautiful world. The only thing that I can think of that would be different is that we'd have less ignorant people on the internet (which would be a great thing).

I think we would have had 500 different operating systems causing all kinds of issues. Basically what it was back then. The computer back then could BUST your company if it went obsolete and didn't have anyone to fix it. You would have to buy a new system and pray it wont have support while you try and build back your customer base.

 

Please don't say Microsoft is not good.

Wow you say MS sucks and you use it everyday! That's fair? You play xbox 360 and other game consoles and MS sucks?

Without Microsoft stuffs there might be less things do with our computer and internet.

So if you say Ms sucks stop using Microsoft office.... and c'mon do you seriously think that you can ONLY live with mac? I don't think so! (I like mac too, wish had one )

Can you play your favorite PC games? HUH.

And stop using windows than... LOL i think most the software that you download or install on your computer has Microsoft logo!!!!

 

I think if MS never existed everything would the same exept the would be a different company winning the OS wars.

I don't own any PC games and the only software i run is firefox and the adobe creative suite which has a mac equivalent so yes i could live with only a mac. But i have a PC cos there cheaper and im poor

 

Without Microsoft there would be no Google, Yahoo and thousands of other companies, many major PC makers which sells 10,000 computers a day would been selling 10,000 computers a year, neither Intel would have come up with Pantium 4 because there would be no need for such high processor. US would have not grown with such a speed if there was no microsoft, neither India as they are outsourcing IT sector Jobs from US

 

the evolutions of OS and computers stops....maybe Mac will replace there position!

 

If Microsoft really sucked then they would no be so popular. Another company would have overtaken them.

Microsoft don't make PCs so I wouldn't be using an expensive Mac. I would be using a PC with the popular PC operating system that would be around. A lot of people would complain it sucked tho

No Microsoft... we could possibly be further down the technological timeline with more firms competing in the operating systems market.
Mac's just aren't cool for the average person, nerd cool though!

Smart people does not allow maximum technological advancements

Smart people + money + resources = good techological advances

Microsoft have most of the money in this market and so advances in technology rely a lot upon them researching.
Go read up about monopolies and why they can be poor for the market.

Don't get me wrong though, I think MS is doing a great job!
