Hello friends, i am in process of starting a webmaster forum on an awesome domain. I know there are tons of webmaster forums coming up every other day, few survive and few blank out. I am looking to start a forum with unique categories, and with a different approach, not unlike others. I am slightly confused with the category hierarchy and seeking your support in this regard. Could you guys please suggest me??? Thanks in advance
You want us to suggest catogeries but can u tell me u want to make the forum General webmaster or some other type
Well a webmater forum is unlikely to have unique categories as, well, it's a webmaster forum and they are all going to have similar discussions. What I would do however is to split your forum up into 4/5 parent categories, say 'Design', 'Development', 'SEO', 'Administration' and then split those up again in 3-5 categories: Design - (X)HTML - CSS - Photoshop - Graphics Development - PHP - Javascript - ASP SEO/Promotion - Tips - Link exchanges - Search engine discussion Admin - Content management - Managing forums - Advice
Everyone likes a offer section as well, so people can sell&buy designs. I don't know, just a suggestion.
Something different would have to take some different software. I recommend going with the old but putting a lot of work into advertising.
