Considering Selling My Site...

I've had my site for a very long time now, I started it in 2003 with a free .tk domain then bought a .com in 2004. So it's over 4 years old now and I'm beginning to grow out of it and I'm considering selling it in the near future but want to know what it's worth.

    Site Here

I've been reading other threads in this section with people asking similar questions, but none of their sites are like mine. The reason why I my site differs is because everything you see is 100% unique.

The whole site is hand-coded in PHP (by me). This includes integration with the forum, allowing users to create account, upload tutorials and downloads, review and rate other users content, create friends list, manage profiles, and basically anything you'd see in a networking site. I'll skip to the stats:

    • 10,000 Registered Members
    • 220,000 Forum Posts
    • 150 Adobe Flash Downloads, all 100% unique
    • 40 Tutorials, all 100% unique
    • 30,000 Unique Visits a Month
    • 150,000 Page Visits a Month
    • Over 350 unique Pages

I know profit is a big thing, but I haven't been too interested in generating much profit until recently. I just put ads on the main site about a few weeks ago. Profit over the last 6 months is about $35 a month, possibly more with ads on the main site now. It's not much, but I'm sure someone who is good at SEO can make a lot with all these users.

Sites on DP generally sell a bit lower than sites on SitePoint where more serious buyers are. But, from an educated guess, based on the whole site, not just the amount of visits, how much do you think I can sell it for?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

You may start the bid by $250.

I don't really want to think about bidding. But I know it's worth more than that, at least triple that. There are sites on SitePoint that aren't any where near as big and sell for 500 - 1000.

You really want to look at selling it at between 10x - 24x monthly revenue as a rule of thumb. (So, $300 for a quick sale and $800 for a long sale.)

    Pitch it somewhere inbetween ;)

You have a great site there. i will suggest you to do something about increasing the revenue. Then you can sell for a very large price. Do not sell it in xxx. You will be losing so much money that way. It will definitely go in x,xxx.

Well considering the age and the uniqueness of your website, I think it could go for >1000.

If you aren't interested in it anymore, just sell it. If you are then keep going!

    Good Luck :D
