I just went to the marketplace looking for a new product to promote. I came across this site http://www.newbiecashmachine.com/ I usually check the buy now page through my hoplink after generating one, to make sure I saw my ID… which I did see after I checked. However, this site also offers a free course that you can sign-up for. So I signed up just to see if my Clickbank id would appear in the links that were in the email. But when I got the email and checked, I say another affiliate’s Id instead of my own. Isn't that a bit shady?
I'm never going to promote a site with an opt-in from now on. I just checked another product which i was promoting, and it's the same thing. If someone happen to signup for the free offer through your link, you wont get any commission if they purchased later. I see this as dishonesty... It was your hard work that generated the traffic in the first place, only to have dishonest publishers cheat you out of your commission!
Thats a common practise that dishonest publisher do - they pass subscribers trough their own affiliate link so that they get 100% commisssion from your effort. But know that only stupid publishers do that. They dont know that with such tricks they are trading a couple of stolen sales for thousands of dollars that affiliates would generate otherwise. Take your efforts for example, they stole a sale from you but you will not advertise anymore and therefore they lost potentially lot of money that you would have generated otherwise. Apart from this, they miss the sales of super affiliates that are not tricked with such ease and just promote another product - no need to say that most sales come from these individuals (and thats a lot of money!) Whenever thers an opt in subscribe yourself and check it out, there are some honest publishers as well that does not trick affiliates.Know that an optin does increase the number of sales. Cheers

I wrote about this earlier, I refuse to promote products with an opt-in form. I believe that at some point most that have legitimate mailings (only a small percentage to begin with) will stuff in their aff id once in a while or if they really need some cash, its only a matter of time.
A good opt-in is a good thing for publishers and affiliates - but I do understand the apprehension of affiliates to promote with opt-ins. I often get the same feeling that I'm being ripped off by publishers as an affiliate. I think a good thing for publishers to do is to offer both a sales letter with an opt-in and a sales letter without the opt-in so affiliates can choose which one to send visitors to. I plan on doing that as soon as I get my opt-in added to my sales letter.
This is very disturbing, I don't like to sell products that have an opt-in Let this be known for new product makers. If you have an optin your not going to get many people as affiliates. I've said this before on this forum... I still don't think they get it.
i've seen soem legitimate opt in forms. And it has provided the purchaser with a 7 day teaser course, which then some went and bought products (because the course was good). that being said, always test it out, and make sure you aren't being ripped off. These publishers are really losing out in the long run if they rip their affiliates off. Affiliates are important to publishers, they need to be treated with respect.
