While there are plenty of rules of thumb for doing page rank calculation, there's no precise way of measuring how much PageRank you will gain from a given set of backlinks. You can get a rough idea but that's about it, since the Google Toolbar is a very approximate valuation of a page's PageRank. The real PageRank of a page is known only to Google. What really matters is not that you get obsessed about PageRank and concentrate on where they're appearing in the SERPs (search engine results pages). Someone on SEOmoz once said that the skill of an SEO is inversely proportionate to how much credence they give to toolbar PageRank.
Very nice top 10 list. I've surely learnt alot from this and this should be able to enhance my sites even further! I have given you some reputation for your kind effort. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the article. But as usual every tip is connected with pagerank. I don't know why so many people think only about PR. Guys, if you want to be in G top 1 you should think about many variables, not PR only! The techniques to get high PR and get good rankings very differ.
I understand where you're coming from and I agree that PageRank is not the key metric (SERPS are). PageRank is an important part of getting those rankings though and I'm not talking about Toolbar Page Rank. Also, when talking about link development, PageRank remains one of the most important criteria when selecting link building targets and understanding the way that Google values backlinks. Finally, I think my article made many points that had nothing to do with PageRank whatsoever.
You're welcome. To all who I talked to about work, I'm busy preparing for a new job so everything will be pushed back to mid-week. Thanks.
I've always wondered if it matters if two of the sites in the 3 way exchange are on the same server. Will google notice this? I've heard that putting a link to a site on the same server isn't effective at all because google notices it..how about it in a 3-way exchange?
Very great article especially for beginner. As erikko said, could you please let us know why article submission and blog posting are grouped to grey hat.
