I see many warez boards, mainly warez-bb.com being the biggest running with no problems. One of my members posted a link to a movie (warez) on my forum, he asked me to create a section on my forum for this too. Is this illegal? No illegal files are being hosted on my server, they are hosted with rapidshare. The servers and myself are both in the U.S.
It depends on the country you are in. Laws are different in every country and it also depends on the enforcement levels. Some countries have strict laws but never bother to enforce, but some enforce to the very letter. You may want to chat with your lawyer friends if you have any to ascertain this, if not pay a visit to your lawyer, it may cost though......they are one and only profession that are paid to talk rubbish..
Hmm than their are so many forums offering free stuff . Cant anyone take legal action on them . I have seen many webmasters are now started creating such forums and minting good money from them too .
Russia may not be, they are progressing quite fast and I don't expect they will tolerate these for long. Though China seemed to be the favorite destination. With Olympics so near, I guess they may want to clean up the image, it may be risky for the time being. But I read about Pirate Bay or something like that, their servers in the Nordic countries seemed to be safe and sound. Not that I am encouraging warez, just a comment
warez-bb.org is hosted in "Hong kong" , where there is no rule against software piracy or warez websites. or they might be running some hidden network.
I heard one warez webmaster was tracked down and put into jail. That's why if I were you, I wouldn't go down that road really, full of risks.
The guy from Oink.cd was tracked down and put into jail :s Now we have 3 more sites just like oink You can't stop it.. you have to learn how to live with it.
man that would suck. Personally I cant agree with it legally, but on a moral viewpoint im off the opinion "person X was never going to pay $xxxx's for Abode entire suite, so its not like adobe lost out ^^
Some people hear of one person who is put into jail and is really scared. the problem is there are millions of webmasters out there who share warez and earn big bucks - and never get caught.
It is not whether you end up in jail or not, it is whether what you are doing is legal or ethical or not. Millions of webmasters do not host warez not because they are afraid of going to jail but because they know it is not the right thing to do.
Warez is illegal. Whether you host or just give links to the files. Its not allowed in most major countries. Countries like , U.S.A and India have too much rules and punishment for violating copyright laws. So , my suggestion , just stay away.
