last week my site, itreallyisfree.com was ranked, on page 2 for 'Free iPhone 3G' page 3 for 'Free iPhone' Then about 4 days ago I gained 10 more backlinks and my serps changed to this, page 4 for 'Free iPhone 3G' page 18 for 'Free iPhone' Then this morning they have changed again (i haven't lost any backlinks in the past few days) to, page 8 for 'Free iPhone 3G' and for 'Free iPhone' I manually scanned every page upto 50 and gave up because it wasn't on any of them! I have around 77 inbound links to my site and there are sites, all on page 1 for 'free iphone' with 32 backlinks, 2 backlinks!, 92 backlinks, 8 backlinks! and 99 backlinks I would love to know, how the f**k they get on page 1 with that many when I am on page 50+ and I keep going down every few days! Please help me
When the search engines find a new page, they rank it high. Then over the next few weeks, it moves down to where it probably should be in the results because they have found other stuff that they think should be ranked higher than you. If it really is unique content and your site ranks well the page will slowly work it's way back up the SERPs and eventually hold a steady rank. But it usually takes months for this to happen (in my experience anyway). SERPs will change daily, there's nothing you can do about that until your site ranks high. Contrary to what you may think, you don't have that many backlinks to your site...try and get a few thousand and then your pages might stick higher in the results.
It takes time for your page it be stable in the serps. Your keywords are ultr-competitive. Remember that
Thanks for the tips, but how do sites with less than 10 backlinks rank on page 1, permanently. And how the hell am I ment to get a few thousand! lol it took me like a month of solid hard work to get 77.
You can gain a lot of links by creating a signature and posting reguraly to forums with high page ranks like this one.
Set your preferences to display 100 results per page and use the ctrl + f to perform a search for your url. This will save you time when manually searching through google, well thats what i do.
It changes every day and I think every 3 hours..not sure about that. Just make your site's content unique and continue building links and generate traffic.
I read an article the other day, I forget where exactly but the content basically was about the good old days when Traffic came from sites you linked to and who linked back. The days before google. To summarize what it boils down to is google while one of the top Search engines is not the only traffic source to be had. Sharing links with like minded websites can and does generate traffic and that traffic can be substantial. In the old days people shared links, and did not try to hide said links and thus created a place for their traffic to go when they were done looking at your site. Linking provides a "What is next" for your users. Surely Search engine traffic should be sought, but do not forsake the other sources of traffic in your travels I myself get more traffic outside of the search engines, though my own site is relatively new of course and thus lacks serp rank. I pursue rankings but I still link to others and as I said, my traffic comes mostly from my links on other sites pages.
