Posting in forums for traffic.

Has anyone else had good results from posting in forums for traffic.
I prefer to post in the for sale sections or the ads and offers section in several different forums. Sigs don't seem to get as much attention.

    Anyone else care to share?

Signature links work well if you can make them interesting or if they are highly consumable.

It depends what the niche of the forum is. From past experience, I advertised a resource forum on a resource forum with the result of plenty of traffic.

I got a totally different idea that I don't believe was mentioned anywhere else before. Calm down, don't rage on me it's not the best solution, but it's another option. I'm not sure if this will help in SEO at all, but when you are linked somewhere on a website, it's always good. For example, take a look at your AIM profile (if you use AIM). Consider mine an example:

    http://profiles.aim.com/pfr
-- Notice how my profile is visible, lol. You should take into consideration putting links in your profile/and or text about your website and see if that might help.

I have always found signature links to be the most promising when it comes to forums. The trick to traffic is the way you present the signature though. Bland sigs are usually overlooked.

I think he is looking more for a small handful of visitors now and then, and who don't back out of the site right away.

"Won't come back out of the site right away." Highly targeted leads that convert to sales is what I'm looking for.

I can say that I have posted in over 100 different forums. Always in the sections that allow advertising. I have tried my best not to spam and always post in the appropriate section and have made about $2,000 in forums alone. Not even close to my sales from websites that I made, but there is definitley a revenue source if forum marketing is done right. Has anyone else tried forum marketing aside from signature links?

    IMO
Signature will drive a lot of traffic to your site thus some % of it will convert to sales.
And signature will generate backlink for your site.

Forums are good places to get traffic. The conditions are you have to choose a popular one and help people out. Then they will come to your website for more. As simple as that

Yes it really is that simple. It is kind of hard to promote various products when I only frequent the internet marketing forums though.

The only way to promote/test several niche markets in forums is to have a huge list of forums that allow free advertising.

P.S. I test markets in every marketing meathod. Its what I do. Combine the product with the appropriate market. All that is necessary is a sales/lead page to mage the transaction as amooth as possible.

Forums are a great way to get new pages indexed aswell.

Yes, forum marketing is highly effective.

Aside from generating real, qualified targeted you get to brand your business - if you have free resources that are genuinely valuable (such as your own blog posts/lenses/videos etc) you can often post them if people ask a question on the specific topic.

Pure win/win...you have to love it :)

    I think that it's true

and remember that the forum is objective for sharing and learning.

backing is a by effect of this main objective of any forum.

Definitely helping others out in particular with their issues make people want to know more about you if they find you are knowledgeable and friendly.
