I'm fairly new here and have been lurking around for quite some time and have learned a lot from this site. I just finished my first PHPld directory based on moinuddin102's corporate template. So ... If anyone has a Northern Ireland related site, please feel free to submit it to http://www.n-ireland.net. Otherwise any feedback, advice or comments welcomed :)

    Thanks!

Operating a directory for adsense isn't a good idea. It suggests many things that aren't welcome nor accepted outside the webmaster community.

Suggest removing the adsense and using affiliate programs instead. You'll make more money if you do.

Some programs will pay you per refferal upto £50 a go. Trust me you'll make more than adsense will give you.

    Use tradedoubler.

Thanks for the adsense tip and sorry for posting in the wrong place! I will look into tradedoubler as you suggest. This thread can be closed and I will post in the correct forum.

We are considering this option :)

We where looking over this place Here that seems to have many different affiliates with
different sponsors like yahoo autos, starbucks, ect ect with decent payouts for "most" USA based sites...

But will research your tradedoubler to see if its compatible and worthwhile..

    cheers

Do what you want to do with your directory, this is just one person's idea. JoeAnt is one of the most established and respected directories and they use adsense. http://www.joeant.com/DIR/cat/4784/Real_Estate

Correction - Webmaster directories, and adsense pays very poorly with directories. I should know, I used to run it on mine.

Tradedoubler is a well-known and respected affiliate company that rivals CJ. I'm not going to suggest something here unless I used it myself and feel it works.

JoeAnt only works as it feeds off and relies on webmaster/QBC revenue - it would fail if that revenue source didn't exist. Besides, JoeAnt is a very poor sales tool and like other directories is the 'poor mans' choice. Another 'brilliant' directory 'Gimpsy' spams me often, but delivers nothing, that's proof that it's crap, has no service aspect to it, and is a joke.

I haven't had 1 visitor from them for months, and it amazes me that so many talk it up lol. These 'webmaster only famous' directories are useless, just face it and move on.

Everyone want's to make a buck or get rich - the few accomplish that!

    Hay Carned,
I like the layout and design. It will do well. Northern Ireland is a small area, get in your car and get out and about and tell your potential clients. You will fill it. Dont worry yet about adsense or other money making ways, start to fill it first, then think about money.

Thanks again for all the advice and also compliments on the layout (although I can't really take credit for this as I just modified moinuddin102's corporate template). I took the adsense off as it wasn't really doing anything anyway, so I will concentrate my efforts on content for now :)
