Will Google Penalize sites that bought links from link sellers?

During the past year Google has cracked down (hard) on sites that sell links or blog posts (brokered izea, smorty, etc). Does Google also penalize the BUYER of these links?

Any ideas on how to avoid problems?

Absolutely they will if they can figure out that you have done this. One way to avoid penaltys is not to post live links when you are posting in that type of forum thread and don't buy links from webmasters posting live links in their selling threads.

Makes sense. Basically everything must be done via PM, right? Non-public info.

Will sellers at Text Link ads get crushed by this as well? How about TNX.net?
