A little misunderstanding there ..perhaps.. its a good idea to at least partially understand what you are talking about before making comments Thats like saying you get visits from Google to robot text blocked pages, it may happen occasionally but that certainly does not prove any deception on the part of search engines , more like an occasional anomaly Its been repeated over and over, but generally people don't listen, and just keep spouting their pet theories and adding to myths, this from the official google perspective rel-nofollow = no index ( of the page linked to by that link ) , no anchor text weight passed , no PR juice passed
I've left you a comment on your blog post explaining the miss understanding there was about link farms and panelization, hope it's clearer now.
nicely researched piece of information with some excellent points, although I don't agree with them all. Thaks for taking the time to post this
Ok. If you say so! But then again what would lil'ol me know? Considering that I am a noob and all, but all what I know is that I went from 0 - 4 in lil over 60 seconds by doing just that! NOT Spamming the comments(!) but by making valuable contributions to the content in the same niche. I never commented about my site, but rather just what the topic was. Every time an original comment... no two were ever the same. Needless to say, G kinda lives on my site and heck I was in #1 in my niche for more than a month. Oh and just if you are thinking how big the niche? Well its a PREEEETTTTY BIG NICHE Results without quotes 18,000,000 Results with quotes 17,900,000 Just if you are wondering how old the site is .. 10 months Never a single second in B!@ck H@T territory ever and will never! But then again, maybe Google got it wrong and they thought it was a NO-NOFollow lol NO-NOFollow = Not being a Jerk = Just being facetious = Google Love Gotta have the laughs mate
I fully disagree with Myth number 6! I know a lot of websites on sitepoint are getting Pagerank because they have irrelevant inbound links!
thanks, interesting read. you have a word spelled wrong here... Myth 5: I have to avoiud linking to other sites because this way I will give away my link juice.False!
We will have to agree to disagree with the PR/back links argument... Its only because back links can't hurt you.. You might get OOP, sure.. In the big picture back links can't hurt you because, like the reason stated, as a competitor I can blast you with over 10000 back links from all sorts of bad neighborhoods & expect you to drop in PR & have to start all over again.. Oh yeah, and I kill you in the SERPs... So, I just don't get that part of your argument.
I would like to hear the answer from sleuth1 but as to myself, I can say it is true based on my experiments. I haven't seen nofollow links being considered by Google. That's why it is nofollow!
although i don't agree with the second point i think this is an excellent write up. thank you for posting.
I'm just saying you got a better chance if you obtain relevant links. If you have a blog about growing raspberries you may benefit from having a PR4 link from DP Politics and Religion forum but a PR4 link from an article about raspberries will really boost your PR. Anyway, after the recent PageRank update I have more evidence to make some conclusions. I will keep you posted. However, don't fret about PR too much
