Hi I would like to know if CTR (defined as Clicks/Impressions*100) is an important factor for advertisers. I've started adding _several_ affiliate text links to my website and found that editing each link and ensuring that the correct image (for impressions tracking) is still in place is a very lengthy and error prone task. So I was wondering: do advertisers or CJ care at all about impressions? (AFAIK they could be there only for publishers viewing pleasure). What would happen if i just remove all image trackers, bringing CTR to 100%? Will my CJ account be flagged/suspended? Thanks
I don't think advertisers care about CTR. But your topic is a little bit different actually. They could care eventually if you alter their ads which is not necessarily related to CTR.
Well if it was meant to game your appeal to potential advertisers, I'd think they would be concerned. If the modifications were in good faith and honestly measured CTR there should be no problem, however if it was aimed at tricking advertisers into picking you, there might be issues.
Thank you for your replies! If this is true, it must be applicable not to all advertisers: for instance hostgator.com this link: <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-PIDcode-AIDcode" target="_top">Link Directly to Shared Web Hosting Page</a> <img src="http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-PIDcode-AIDcode" width="1" height="1" border="0"/> hostgator want you to change their ads good point, but how can they know my intentions? What I'm doing is to take the whatever.com/click-.... url and place it in a redirection script like mysite.com/go/standardplan i'm also changing the linked text to something like 'Sign up now'. I tried asking a couple of advertisers about this issue (at least for me ) in the past, but got no reply from them.
i dont think they are bothered about CTR as i use a lot of text links are therefore have 0% CTR They are bothered about EPC and CR etc as these stats potential publishers can see and use to judge how a merchant converts
Advertisers do not usually care about CTR anymore since so many affiliates promote links without using image tracking code (coupon sites & search affiliates almost never use image tracking code).
