How profitable are YouTube clone sites? Also, best script?

    The question is same as the title. I would also like to know which script would be the best if I were to buy a good script. It does not have to be a youtube "clone" per se, just a quality and easy to use interface.

    Theres youtube-like scripts out there where you can upload your content, and other people can, create accounts - everything like youtube.

    I was thinking the same thing. I want a site where users can upload their own content not just a site that takes youtube vids that already exist.

    i definitely don't promote copyright infringement and I don't want adult vids on it, but what if users upload that content? It would be pretty hard to monitor.

    YouTube clones can be very profitable. Lookup Vshare. Also, phpmotion is a free clone script that is fairly powerful given its price ;)

    I think if you are going to do a video sharing website you should get a customized script. This will help you in the long run because if it gets big and youtube sees that all you did was clone it their team of lawyers would shut your website down and your domain name etc and all the hard work would go down the drain. Also if you are going to do it you might as well do it right because the hosting monthly is going to cost you a good amount anyways because I have tried to host videos on a shared server before and 75 percent of the time it is not going to be fast enough you are going to have to go with a dedicated.

    Clipshare it cost $199. i host a video sharing site using clipshare, its a good script. Your visitors can also register to upload videos and more.

    You will definately need a dedicated server...however, you can start on a shared hosting plan. Just make sure you have things in place to easily scale your hosting needs as your site becomes popular.

    As for how profitable these sites can be, it all depends on the niche you choose to target. Just choosing to be another video site and going up against youtube will only make you pennies. Go Niche
