Try commenting out this line: Options +FollowSymLinks #Options +FollowSymLinks in the .htaccess file, upload the file... go eat some lunch and then come back and test it. GoDaddy has a delay in changes made to the .htaccess file. I think you may be able to work around that delay by renaming the .htaccess file on the server to htaccess.txt and then uploading the new one... but it may have just been a coincidence that it worked for me once. Tried your solution buddy.. but even after a dozen meals.. the damn godaddy is giving me "server error 500" on various pages.. the homepage works fine either seo enabled or disabled..
i was wrong! it says it will work and it does... untill SEO is turned on.. i changed the file to .htaccess and still nothing.. what to do?

have you tried this, i was getting the same untill i done this and change the htaccess file name sorry for stating the obvious

I am getting on with joomla 1.5.x with a test project on my local windows mahcine, and moment i turned on SEO friendly url options, all hell broke look. I have also renamed htaccess.txt to .htacess in site installation folder. What now ?
