How does is a site with 32 inbound links (quite a lot of these are nofollow) on page 1 whereas my site with 72 inbound links (most are dofollow) is on page 18 for the same search term. Anyone know why?
there are several factors that effect SERPs. Backlinks is not the only factor. Keywords also play a major role. I am sure some SEO expert here will be able to explain it to you in more detail.
Does your backlinks use the keyword that you are targeting as your anchor text? Even your backlinks might win in terms of quantity, you might be losing on the quality of links. Also, the page that outshine your page might have a better on page SEO elements than yours.
I did more than 90% of my backlinks manually, I chose my anchor text so they all have my main keyword in the anchor text. and We both have the exact same seo score for domaintools.com checked both domains and they are both 100& title 100& description 92% SEO score, so I cant see any difference in on-page SEO.
It would be easier if you typed in your url and the url of your competitor. The quality of the links and the layout of your site is also something you should consider.
You mean post the links here? My url: itreallyisfree.com Competitor url: freeiphone4u.co.uk Search term: Free iPhone So are you saying if I change my sites layout I could get on page 1 as well?
I have updated the layout of my site, can anyone please tell me if my SERPs will improve now, when google re-spiders my site? (i have used an apparently 'seo friendly' wp theme)
i think just because of the domain name the competitors site is ranking higher. As the whole keywords are coming on the domain name. Thats making the difference... Don't worry. Work hard. You can bit them.
Ok, I did think that, it really annoys me that they get soo much higher because of domain name, thanks for tip
