Please don't post it, I created it specifically for the DP members, that's why I didn't post it on my own blog.

    this is a great thread!
it's great to see a fellow blogger helping others.

WordPress is really quite powerful when used properly. I feel very grateful to the WP developers for all the work they do to make the software better and better, to the plugin authors and theme developers who help to extend WordPress, and to the WordPress blogging community, for banding together and helping out newbies. It's been a great ride, these past couple of years! And it keeps getting better.

And for anyone who is sceptical, yes, you can make money from your blog! I have and continue to do so. I'm not here to brag about how much I make but I can tell you that if you want a low cost start up for your business, use WordPress.

Here's to our mutual success!

Jeremia, I'd like to thank you for the effort you took into compiling this list. I found a bit of information I didn't previously know! It's always good to see a compilation like this that can truly bring about a few new ideas.

When I started out playing around with CMS systems I didn't originally feel that WP would be a fit for me. However as time has gone by it's become one of the major pieces of software I use online. Thanks again for such a great pool of knowledge located in one space!

Dreamhost provides many goodies (1 click install for some scripts...) but they are not 100% reliable

Like my network of websites, many websites are down today like a few months ago ( http://www.dreamhoststatus.com )

    :(

Sorry to hear about that mate, have you been thinking about moving your sites to another host?

I do have 3 other hosts of course (Hostgator, Blue Host, Oxeo)

But when you have hundreds of domains and sub-domains to move it's a tricky situation

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, it can be a pain in the ass to move them to another host.

By the way this thread is the 3rd on the first page of Google for the keyword "Wordpress thread". :D

I am quickly learning WP. I am able to edit fairly well visually and using widgets. Does anyone know of a good place for a non tech to learn about the script and how to understand the programming language to do more advanced tweaks to the style sheets and templates?
