NO! Cuil cannot match up with Google at the current rate. Stop making these threads mates. There are plenty of threads saying the same stuff..

I highly doubt that it can beat Google in any way, at least it won't beat Google in the near future.

I have seen those kinda threads a lot. One thing- A highly humourous joke. Cuil or whatever cannot so easily get steps with Google. It'll have to go much distance to do anything, leave alone competing with Google.

Ask yourself - Whenever you search, You cuil it or Google it?

For me, Google's one and the last. It can fulfil almost every need. Sure there can be as many SE's as possible, but for no reason, they could be termed as successful as GOOGLE. They've got to go a long way.

I typed in "how many sites are indexed by Google" without the Quotes. I found a site:

    http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/misc/sizeofweb.html

Which ironically show 58,700,000 for that search: how many sites are indexed.

It's hilarious because boutell talks about how yahoo and google don't disclose how many sites are indexed.

But Cuil states that they are mega huge 120 billion pages. And by boutell figures they state the web might be at 29 billion by Feb 2007.

I know they are guestimates and can be way off but how can Cuil have 120 billion, brag about it, and not have any of my sites indexed that have awesome Alexa scores and high PR. And yes I know Alexa is toolbar traffic but no one else is doing it so I like to use it as a gauge, toolbar users, from time to time.

The answer shouldn't be a shock. It's about money $$$$. They want to be the next toolbar of sorts. Think about it. Venture capitalists put in 50 million and every ones an Ivy League Grad. The so called experts of the world. They are trying to create the biggest scam on the net.

Google does adwords and adsense to make money. We don't know the workings of it and never will. They stay rich because of lazy site promotion. And they can charge and pay whatever they want.

Cuil thinks they are Cool because they want to be the next to line their pockets with cash because less than half the general public lack a college education or even an associate degree.

In 2006, the Census found that 84.1 percent of Americans age 25 and older had completed high school, and 9.9 percent had earned an advanced degree.

Sorry, but that's sick America. But wake up!!!! No not here because that 9.9 percent doesn't even represent the number of people educated enough to recognize scams on the net.

    Any way Cuil is Crap.

I won't call it crap, it does have its own features and selling point. Just that it is a long shot if it is to take on the leadership of Google. Google search is too entrenched at this moment, I would call it unshakable. Far more efforts and money need to be sank into the efforts if it is to dethrone Google in the future. In other words it needs to have the financial staying power and well as being constantly innovating.

It is not very good. Just another company pushing PR and hoping for a buyout, but with the small investment into it, not long for this world.

I must say that their first baby step is successful, when everyone is talking about them means that their PR to generate awareness has had some results. Now is the gigantic task of converting the awareness into actual usage for this newbie search engine.

Think CUIL is a joke IMO.

The other day, I searched for "CUIL" in the search, and CUIL.com was on page 2. LOL.. But it seems that it's fixed now.
But a search on e.g. "Windows" doesn't come up with Microsofts windows site. lol.
