Abu Musab Zarqawi and Ansar al-Islam were already in Iraq prior to the 2003 Iraq war.

Zarqawi's first major attempt at a terrorist attack occurred in 1999 after his release from prison. He was involved in an attempt to blow up the Radisson SAS Hotel in Amman in 1999 because it was frequented by many Israeli and American tourists.[7] He failed in this attempt and fled to Afghanistan and then entered Iraq via Iran after the overthrow of the Taliban in late 2001.

From Iraq he started his terrorist campaign by hiring men to kill Laurence Foley who was a senior U.S. diplomat working for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Jordan. On October 28, 2002, Foley was assassinated outside his home in Amman.

A few terrorists in the north where Saddam had no control is far from a 'terrorist magnet' we made it the magnet that it is today.

Can you name a single country on the face of the planet that does not have one terrorist there? By this logic the US is a terrorist magnet and should be invaded!

Don't worry, I have heard about a video game that is coming soon that in it you can capture the enemy and put them in prison, so soon you will have the chance to fix that problem and call yourself not only the x-box general but also little willy, the enemy capturer.:D

Mideast Oil and the Drug are funding the terrorists in Afganistan. Violent incidents increased to over 1000 this month.

More foreign fighters are joining the ranks of Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan as militants increasingly cross the border from Pakistan to attack Afghan and Western troops, the Afghan Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

Money for the insurgency comes through donors in Gulf countries and a tax on Afghanistan's booming drug trade, security analysts say.

The Islamists understand that this is an International conflict -- a clash of civilizations.

Only the Western liberals are so stupid as to believe that we are fighting separate wars, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. We are living in a post-nationalism world and everyone needs to wake up and understand that.

It appears that the recent attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul has been tied back to the Pakistani ISI. This will initiate a purge of that agency and is one more step towards civil war in Pakistan. It's a sign that your pessimistic viewpoint may be accurate and that my optimism towards Pakistan may have been unwarranted.

Good factual points to counter the delusion. Some of the al qaida operatives that were there, were detained by saddam's men. Once they discovered they were al qaida, they were let free AND given information that Jordan knew they were there and were after them.

Of course, Saddam had his own terrorist training camps as well. It always amazes me how a few big headed liberals try to dismiss the facts and defend saddam by suggesting it was "just a few in the north."

Much to the dismay of some here :)

Who "are" we? "We" as in people who do not start threads seeking sympathy and support for al qaida, or those who openly support al qaida, or those that support hamas, or those who make up fabricated fairy tales about terrorists in Iraq to defend saddam.

Pakistain is spiraling out of control and the US may be forced to take control of Pakistain' nuclear weapons.

US has determined that Pakistan's spy agency, the ISI, helped plan the fatal bombing at India's embassy in Kabul last month, US media reported Friday, citing unnamed US officials.

The New York Times said intercepted communications had provided "the clearest evidence to date that Pakistani intelligence officers are actively undermining American efforts to combat militants in the region."

Officials also told the paper that the ISI was feeding militants in the tribal areas information about the US military efforts, helping them avoid missile strikes.

"The Indians are absolutely convinced it's true, and they're right," an unnamed US official told the Wall Street Journal.

The Times and the Journal reported that US officials believe the embassy attack was conducted by forces loyal to Afghan militant Maulavi Jalaluddin Haqqani, who is tied to Al-Qaeda and based in Pakistan.

The Times said that the US has begun to find Pakistan "no longer a fully reliable American partner" and that President George W. Bush on Monday confronted Pakistan's prime minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani, about the divided loyalties of the ISI.

According to the paper, Pakistan's defense minister, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, told a Pakistani television network that Bush asked Pakistani officials, "Who is in control of ISI?"

That is interesting information. It's all speculation on the outcome of this information, but in your personal opinion, do you think we will:
    1. Use diplomacy, but don't necessarily consider them as an ally anymore, and watch our back.
    2. Try to take control of Pakistan nuclear weapons, yet somehow avoid war with them.
    3. Declare war against Pakistan and take control of nuclear weapons with force.
    4. None of the above.

I will think Option 1. The geopolitics there are too complicated otherwise. Though for once I though Bush did open his mouth correctly :)
