    "Hilltop Algo"
Remember that phrase ladies and gents.
G is as much about physics as it is about maths.
Also think of the "sandbox" as a "intertia based algo"
Try pushing a breeze block on a carpet. It does not move, but boy , when it does try stopping it.
Think of trustrank as a lubricant

Google incorporated the Hilltop algo into Page Rank back in 2004. So, in order to rank your page you will need both pr and local score. You ever wonder why some sites with low pr rank well for some keywords -- Do the math -- the sites may have a good local score.

    1) PR determines the importance of a web page by number and quality of links.

    2) The Hilltop Algorithm is specific to a search term. Hilltop determines search ranking by using the localscore of incoming links. Localscore is the relevance and quality of your inbound links.

So the key to getting ranked well for your keywords is to increase your local score by getting links from relevant and authority pages in your niche.

Could local score be the page title of the page with your inbound link?
After all by linking out on a page with the same title and outbound damages serps of that page, a sort of sacrifical link.

One thing you also need to remember is to include the keywords you're going for in your listing titles (title is usually the link to your website) and to NEVER exchange links with directories. Just go with the one-way free directories.

    ooh good
can you tell me how much time it took for submitting your site to 500 directories
as I think submitting more than a limit submission can put ur site in sandbox too.
i didn't tried to embarrass you but i need to clear my doubts, so will you...

If you're fast you can do it in 2 or 3 days. Just open a notepad file and type in your title, description, email address, and name. Some directories also ask for a meta description so you might want to write that down to. Go to DirectoryCritic.com and go to each free directory on their list. Cut-and-paste your pre-written descriptions from you're notepad file into their submission forms. I wouldn't worry about submitting too many links to directories because many directories take several weeks or even months to accept your website.

it would be also fine if you use form filler like roboform. But remember use different titles after every 100 or say few submisisons, by that way you can avoid sanbox by targetting different keywords.

    Best Luck.

Just search in google for the subject of your website with the word "directory" in it. Most niche directories require you to exchange links with them but that's probably ok since they have the same subject as you.

My site is relatively new ( 2 months ), and has a pagerank of 0, but does well, hitting #1-#3 for some three word searches.

From what I can see, the "sandbox" may have an effect on more popular keywords and phrases. My site is #5 for a popular set of keywords on some mornings, then drops to #21 or so and stays there more often.

Good to hear that directory submission helped you achieve your ranking. I have a few sites that are lost in Google and have begun submitting them to directories on a daily basis. Hopefully it will help them out and they start showing on in Google again.
