Both great places for getting links back to your main site and I also use
Blogger, Craigslist, Backpages, Gather, Propeller and there are a few more
that used in their own way work well.

Squidoo is very easy to use and I go back frequently to add content and make the page more valuable to readers. I link freely back to my site with my articles and find that I can improve the ranking to a fairly high level but nothing under 5,000 overall. As far as traffic I am going to have to market the site a lot to get significant traffic. Like everything else simply putting up a page and waiting for traffic is a lonely endeavour. Overall squidoo seems to have some real potential. Hubpages - ? haven't tried it and probably won't until I see how to max squidoo out as much as possible.

rep added for that useful information. my first hubpage that i made was nofollow to begin with and now its dofollow since my personal hubscore is 84 and page score is 79. not bad for the first hubpage :) this is my first hub on social bookmarking submission which is dofollow.

regarding squidoo, its is 100% dofollow to begin with

squidoo links are dofollow so if you have a squidoo lens with link back to your site, you will get a backlink. the lens needs to be indexed by SE btw for you to get the backlink and will take some time for the backlink to show but you will get it.

regarding hubpages being nofollow, not entirely true. read the quoted text

Squidoo and Hubpages are good source of unique content where we can share about any specific niche and with quality content we can also get some unique and quality back link for our other sites. This is the best way to get links from managing resources.

I am also having hubpages which are helping me to get Traffic and links as well.

Lens are dofollow as soon as they come out of WIP - usually the next day.

I prefer hubpages over Squidoo and they seem to have a lot more authority in Google compared to Squidoo. This is probably due to the fact they have a better mechanism for detering spammers.
