What do you guys think of the Dream Team and their chances in the olympic games? So far they played teams like Canada and Turkey and crushed them both. With guys like Kobe, LBJ and all the rest of them it does look pretty hard to stop them. Big games coming up for them tomorrow against Lithuania and Russia (European champions) on Sunday ; those will be the real tests. There are still many teams that are very strong such as Greece, Spain, Argentina.... what will happen against them?

We were lack of our NBA players Hedo and Memo and we played with our youngsters. Makes a big difference. Plus, you can't call a team `minor` based on the recent performance of a team. Turkish Basketball Team have had successes before.
ok ok... you might have a point. i corrected it don't want the Canadians feel too down about it as well. Did Turkey qualify for the olympic games? When was the last time they won an international tournament (national teams or clubs)?
We were 2nd in Eurobasket 2001 and 4th in Mediterranean Games 2005. In World Championship 2006 we made it to Elite Eight and we did beat Lithuania in that tournament. And by the way, in 2010 we will be hosting the World Championship I should admit that we are not performing well lately though.
well... what do you know... they managed to defeat even lithuania... maybe they really have what it takes this time
Dream team will crush all teams as long as they play whole-heartedly, something they lack most of the time, otherwise they may well be defeated like last time in Japan they were defeated by Greece even though they were by far and far the superior squad. Well USA surly go for Gold. In Basketball everything is set for USA we just need to pick Silver and bronze teams.
we'll see about that... Russia, China, Argentina, Australia have pretty strong teams as well... Tomorrow morning the USA are facing Russia in a warm up game
This time around the USA team is out for blood. This team has many of the same players from the last world basketball championship where I think they got second or third place.
i didn't see the last game against Australia, but apparently it was a bit closer then all the games so far. though they won, again, they didn't pass 90 points like againsta canada, lithuania and turkey. did anybody see it?
I saw a bit of it, Australia did a good job. I think the US will win if they lay it all out on the court. Europe has some elite teams, it's not like what it used to be in the early 90's. If the US doesn't win Gold this year, the NBA and American basketball in general will lose even more credibility. More and more players are leaving to Europe to play ball.
