    Hi!

    I saw in one of my niches a guy in google had #1 spot with a .net domain. I don't know what the difference is between .net and .com. Does google have a preference for one?

    Thnx:cool:

    .net = Network
    .com = commercial

    but in today world it does not make any difference. both would do the work for you.

    No preference.

    Although, I think Google hates .info and .us domains. ;)

    .net. Generally you will see ISP's with them. Although... You can register any domain you wish without a prob. Except .govt etc.

    When building Yahoo or Google, the programmers were not instructed to program the computers to favor one three-letter word over another. The computers are programmed mainly to spider pages, index them, and keep track of backlinks.

    Although the net extension is spidered and ranked just like the com in Yahoo and Google, and all the other engines, it had nothing to do with him landing high, if that is what you may be thinking. He just got lucky, like all the others who also land high.

    Also, a lot of IT-related companies as well.

    My IT Dev company has had our .net domain for over a decade now, and boy does google love a 10-year-old domain.

    But Google doesn't really care for the domain name, as much as for its content.
