Web10 directory is cheating?

In February 2006 I purchased a permanent link from Web10 directory for $49.95. The domain name at that time was web10.us, which is now redirected to web10.ws. The branding remains the same though.

My problem is that now that I checked back on the directory, I cannot find my permanent link there anymore.

Once I noticed this, I replied to the managers order confirmation email asking for an explanation, but received no reply.

Has anyone else had any trouble with Web10 directory?

Doesn't Jeff from AvivaDir own that?

I have never heard of it nor visited but I suspect it is one of the many directories which gets sold on a daily basis.

But first, use the contact form to get in touch with them instead of responding to the email confirmation from your order, that is 2 years old and likely going nowhere.

    http://www.web10.ws/contact.php

If that is / were true, I think Jeff sold off a load of small directories projects during his Google clean up to get Aviva back inline. This may not have been one of them tho.

Bear in mind that if you paid a review fee, they are well within their rights to remove your link at any time, even if it passed initial review.

Don't know, but could be as the order confirmation email was advertising Aviva.

As suggested by SilkySmooth I'll try that contact form as well.

Edit: Can't do that, as the contact for is not working and returns Illegal input for [Message] error. I tried removing all special characters from message, but still get the same error.

I don't agree, as the payment was for permanent listing and they accepted the link and sent me a confirmation email about it.

He said he bought the link back in 2006 I doubt he will be eligible for a Paypal refund.

That is a case in point of how long permanent is. When buying links, you should expect it to be as long as the directory is owned by the same owner. The new owners have no obligations to keep your link unless they agreed in contract with the original owners. Chances are that it was sold and you will have no real recourse. You can track down the original owner but that will do little to get any money back.

    This is a true statement:

    Par for the course

This is why I don't pay for links in webmaster directories, nor promote them in my directory. Only the well-established get my money.

If the directory has a new owner they'll know nothing about when or where you paid for a link. Bad times....

Is this directory previously pr4 or above? Can't believe you'd like to pay $49 for a pr0 link.

Not everyone, including SEO companies go buying based on PR. It'd be quite foolish in this day and age to do so.

I had similar experience with another directory, but contacted them and it was sorted.
