Guys and Gals I need some help. Any ideas other than backlinks for advertising this site. forcesign.com its only 2 months old but i need to drive some traffic for it.
Write an article "Everything you need to know to order a sign for your business". Submit to article directories. Write more articles. "What type of sign is best for your business?" Etc. Put up more pictures of the signs you have made -- maybe less "beauty" shots like the boat. If a visitor can't really see what the signs look like, why should they order? Make interesting fake signs to use for pics, or get business owners the choice to have their signs included on site. How about a gallery of your signs? How about a contest, widely promoted?
Domainname and frontpage are meaningless. It does not become immediatly obvious, what the site is about. Thats an issue you must address before driving traffic to you site.
For the input. i think your right about the pics on the frontpage. but the signs i have done are boring. i think i will make up a few good ones myself.
I really like your website. I would start looking into PPC. Focusing on particular regions might help you lower some of the cost.
How about having an affiliate program through Comission Junction or Share a Sale so that the affiliates drive the traffic to your site. That way you get the traffic for free (minus signup costs ... pardon the pun!) and only pay out if there is sale ...
OH MY GOD this really pissess me off, each time someone asks about SEO tips I can hear/read "use social bookmarking". Great fucking idea, how about you explain a person how to social bookmark to actually succeed, because you can either use social bookmarking and actually get some traffic or use it and get nothing. Also, God dammit, don't just throw a single line of text like "use social Book marking" WTF you can't even put it together right, then how can you use it? And the next "advice" that ALWAYS comes up "Post on forums in your niche. Advertise with your signature! You'll get lot of targeted traffic!" LOL yeah, forums in niche of signs, great idea, I'm sure there's lots of forums about signs and people posting passionately about them, ah oh oh look at this sig of that guy, he has some advertisement about a company that makes signs, EXCITING ILL CLICK IT. Now seriously people, try to help like Farley did, or blackonyx, with some actual based on the case tips, not some bullshit that you throw into any topic to get yet another +1 post count. Now back on the topic, the only thing I would change (I'm a flamer, not a pro SEO guy) are the two pics on the home page, "show your product in use" that's my advice.
Couldn't agree more (in fact I think we've agreed on this in a past thread) - I've seen somone with a vets business in the midwest being told enthusiastically by several eejits that the best thing he could do was submit to stumbleupon! - Oh yeah, because your average idle surfer in Toronto, or the Phillipines is going to see that and think "hmm...I think I'll take my sick pony to Iowa now I've seen that site"
Thanx for the Kudos, sunlust . You forgot to mention people, not being able to tell niche from topic *g*. Oh well, at least this thread gave me an idea for a new project: Free traffic, SEO optimimization and backlinks for everyone! Hope the parrots will still be as active, if my super secret plan works the way I want it. I'll be fabolously rich, rich I tell ya *G*!
Back to helping the OP. You really need to get some product sample pictures up as soon as possible. They will never seem good enough to you, because you are always looking to make your next project even better. But something is way better than nothing. How are your natural search engine results? Optimizing for "quality vinyl banners" or something like that will probably be too competitive on a small budget. But you might try niching for SEO results. Is there a particular industry using your signs in a particular way? Do some searches based on that. If the top 5 results aren't terribly relevant or well linked, you may have a valuable niche to fill. A business like sign making does well as a local business, too. Join the local chamber of commerce. Go to places that let sponsors put up vinyl banners and see if they have a preferred banner maker. Since you're in NC, local rodeo organizers would be a good example.
Commission Junction denied me too when I started due to they felt their program would overwhelm me without a programs manager. They may have been right. I think Shareasale has a great rep. try them!!
