Juniper.. I have seen that directory rate comes into action after every PR update. Almost all directory lists are outdated now because of recent toolbar PR update. I updated my list with yahoo backlinks and google PR yesterday but a lot of other parameters are still being collected.:)

They update when PR does, as their algorithm seems way too dependent on PR for my likening.

yes when you look their first 10 directory ; you can understand their algo,
alexa, yahoo backlinks and google index count are much important metrics...and these metrics usually change everyweek thats why for my guess they need to update their database frequently.

Juniper.. I know that these numbers would make more sense when they are updated weekly (or real-time).. But believe me.. it's not easy to update these numbers for 4000 directories :) Even with programs it takes me 1 day to get one type of data for all directories.. :)

Just to make it clear.. I don't represent directoryrate.. :D

Users won't understand or care about your problems jitendraag. They want to see new content every day.

See, it's all very well flashing off a guide/resource, but then to have difficulty in maintaining it, especially updating is unforgivable. I see this so much and it's just another example of just how difficult this is.

This is why I don't rate/score actual directories, a while back I was tempted to deliver an official ranking system for all search engines on the planet, it seemed like a good, helpful idea to expose the good and the bad, until I realised the work involved was too much for little reward - which you just highlighted. Something like this is not a one-person job, too much information to update you see, which you are now finding out.

There was a SE, ISP and directory guide for the UK a while back, but the guy running it quit (Bobby Davro). It only covered 270ish UK ones, but they were the trusted/popular ones - shame, as it gave me some idea of who was who in the directory world. I guess he quit as it was a lot of hassle....

IMO they seems only update the data of the "top list".

    HI

I emailed them last week and they said it takes a lot of work to update the DR Stats of the directories in their DB... but they said they are working on a new project and hope to have an update out at the end of the month..

    Thanks
    Tom

I think unless the directory has seen some major changes the list will not get moved around much. But some changes should be expected soon due to the PR update.

I own a directory list which is often updated. If you want, you can try it. Any constructive suggestion is welcome. URL: http://www.linksadmin.net/directories
