Does it make sense to transform your traditional (low information) squeeze page into a "Long sales letter" with opt-in box in order to add additional content to get the quality score up? Any feedback from someone who has tried this approach? Like everyone, I want that opt-in so that I can market to that user over time and I'm concerned that my opt-in rate will go down...
No... Adding a long sales letter and lots of paragraphs of information will not increase quality score. I have tried and tested this many times.
Make sure the text you have on the page matches the keywords you're targeting. I try to have at least a few paragraphs of text.
Add Disclaimer, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Support etc. links. Your landing page should not be a dead end for your visitors... so you need to have outbound links Also you should follow standard business practices, Google gives lot of weightage to that & I've already tested this on my squeeze pages. One of the eg. you can see on my sig. below
Thanks The popup is for exit traffic(whenever you try to use back button or close the window). Not sure why it is coming every time, need some more testing
Okay...then tht's wat it is supposed to do...most of the time you move towards tht area when you want to navigate away from the current page...either by using back/close button or entering a different URL in the address bar. As per my testing & stats I've captured lots of subscribers using tht exit popup
Okay, thanks - those are some good suggestions and, I agree witht the other post, that you have an elegant squeeze page. In my definition at least, I would classify your squeeze page as a "small to medium" sales letter. Maybe one step up from a pure squeeze page and yet a step or two down from a full copy sales letter. I like the additional links you provide at the bottom to make it more normal in Google's eyes. Has your testing shown that the additional verbage (even though there isn't a ton of it) and links have improved your Google quality and/or cost per click prices? Is that what you were saying?
I'm a little bit confused because you and the post from Universal Soldier later in the thread seem to be at direct odds with each other. You're saying the additional copy does no good - Universal Soldier says his testing has shown otherwise. Perhaps the difference is the inclusion of the Disclaimer/Support/etc... links as well?
I had one other question for you Universal Soldier -- what software do you use to generate the images of the covers of your product that you feature on the page? They look good...
additional copy may aid in conversion but not in quality score. Those are 2 different questions If your asking if lengthy sales copy will improve your QS with google the answer is NO... If your asking if more text that describes your product will aid in the conversion process then the answer may be YES... but testing is needed
As per my testing whenever I tried promoting squeeze page without following the standard practices like disclaimers, privacy policy etc, my QS was either Poor or OK & CPC high...so yes adding these definetly helped in my case
Adding content does help, Bob has been proven that he is wrong in his advice in this area before, (by me btw).
