plus, how can you have backlinks pointing to another site? those are called outbound links or forward links...

 

Iam not expert in SEO and pagerank stuff
but I read some where article for SEO master , says that in the past a years ago , Page Rank was the main responsible on being the first positionin SERP but nowadays Google change its algorithm as they noticed all sites forget the Content and start running and paying for just links , so they make the new Algorithm focus on Content and little on Page Rank so PageRank still have it's role but not like before

If any of those links you have get some PR like PR1 or so, it will greatly boost your PR and traffic. It also depends on the quality of those links.

 

This is the bottomline and end result of gaining some value in few short months.

 

they might be pr0 today but will not be pr0 always. some will have good pr in the future so yes, it will help

i think first criteria of link is the relevancy if your link have in relevant page then it gives you some value either pr0 or pr10. all links are give some value.

Not sure it all depends on the quality of the links.

 

My personal website, glenn chan .info, has 1000+ backlinks from forum signatures. It is PR0. (Part of this might be because it links to sites Google thinks is unrelated.)

Another one of my pages has 4/5 follow links and PR3. My highest PR page on my site (nattress film effects tutorial) has a SINGLE backlink from a PR4 webpage. (It is PR0 now... possibly because of link changes to that page and my website)

It suggests that quality is much more important than quantity.

 

This error is continually repeated on Digital Point, in complete disregard for Google's current ©2008 statement: "Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results."

I appreciate everything that helps me "appear at the top of the search results". And one thing that Google actually quotes as contributing to high SERPs is PageRank.

 

Pr0 backlinks have still points but little. Every little things becomes big once combined.

 

The Yahoo and MSN search engines don't use PageRank. Let's not forget them. They can bring you considerable traffic, and links are important to them, regardless of PageRank, which is unique just to Google.

 

Pagerank is not important! I would only use backlinks to drive traffic to my site.

It is not harmful to your site any way. Yes but relevancy and quality of linking sites are very important.

From such backlinks you can boost SERP for your site and also get benefits of "Anchor Text".

It is not harmful any way for your site to get 1000 backlinks with PR0.

 

Whether a link is related or not has no bearing on PageRank. PageRank is simply math. However, the more related the links, the more beneficial they will be in your rankings, which is obviously key.

Forum signatures on many sites are nofollowed, so they don't count at all.

Absolutely.

They don't use the term "PageRank", but they certainly count inbound links toward your ranking in some fashion. IBLs are always good to get.
