For the past couple days I've been receiving messages (red or yellow alerts)from McAfee Security center that my computer protection needs a "fix", which I then proceed to execute. This step restores the McAfee symbol to green, along with the message that I'm now protected. However, the alert message then returns a few hours later beginning the cycle all over again. Any suggestions or ideas as to what's going on?
Maybe you disabled the automatic updated feature. Antivirus need to update constantly the virus pattern to fully protect your computer. That may explain while after is turning green but once again yellow after "x" number of hours if the pattern has not be setup for automatic update.
The automated update feature appears to be working ok. However, I think I may have discovered the source of the problem. Somehow my Windows firewall was turned off. Since I reactived it, the McAfee issue has not returned. But this begs another (rehtorical?) iquestion: How was my Windows firewall setting have been switched off when I never even click on that option?
